Absolutely loved looking through those ads! 1981 was when the bmx bug first bit me, so I probably saw some of those ads in the first mags I bought back then! Happy days!  :)

needs to be aero style, does a kashimax aero fall into the 1980/81 bracket ? am I also correct that a viscount aero is 82/83 ?

Pretty sure aero saddles surfaced in very late 82/early 83.  You would be looking at a Uni Seat for something remotely "aero" style.  Kashimax MX, Elina LB & non LB and various others like Messenger or Cinelli but very little in the aero style before early 82.

Looks like late 81 Kashimax released the Aero saddle; I stand corrected  :daumenhoch:

I don't think so, pretty sure the Silver Streak came out in late 82.  If you got that info from OS DBNET I think it's wrong, the DB that was out in 81 was this one...

Thank you for your feedback, the fatgoose is March 81, now I  know this is a one off bike but I have recently changed the pedals from 83 xc2's to 81 xc compes to get it more in line, what seat would you be fitting to it , i know there are a lot of fake kashimax's around as well and being march 81 is just out ?
I am trying to keep the  non era correct parts to a minimum which are the wheels, brake and drop out savers, i've got the 81 decals including the original 1978 dura ace equipped stickers that fitted on the bottom stay.
Does someone have a seat in black (mint) that falls in this time line that they may be interested in selling?
A shotgun 1 seems to be a firm favourite  :daumenhoch:

The reason I haven't  gone for genuine mongoose era parts are because the double clamp stem sits a little high and then requires using  7" mongoose bars that are only 23".
The mongoose seat clamp ? don't think it's up to the job for a layback post when I know most cooks bros bikes had laybacks + the mongoose clamp just dug into the frame.
I'm also fitting a genuine 81 Tange motocross beartrap headset as I remember BITD my genuine mongoose headset coming loose all the time, mongoose bb was good as gold.
