Title: Fake or real deal Tange clamps?
Post by: Bfellows on June 28, 2014, 02:57 PM
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-Vintage-TANGE-SC-2-Seat-Clamp-1-Silver-old-school-BMX-/171369130099?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item27e6656873

He has several colours as well........... finish looks to rough compared with the NOS one I have, also crappy casting around the bolt split area......  I'm not thinking of buying, just curious to see what people think?

FAKE - there's a casting mark on one side in the gap which is in all the clamps so they I reckon they've only recently been made.

Not sure Bert, they do come from Taiwan which is well renowned for it's utter respect of the copyright laws   :chin:

They look shady to me, but then I don't have an original to compare

But that rough bit is on all of them, they look brand new and none of them have the packaging
Not cheap either

That rough casting mark around the bolt area looks suspect to me as well.
Noticed a few like this kicking around recently ???

The Tange SC-2 Stamp looks very heavy-handed as well.
All mine have been quite finely engraved.

Good spot  :daumenhoch:

Look at the front of the clamp, there is a flatend part shaped like a V which does not look right. Black one looks o.k. Gold one does not look right on the front edge either. Poor finishing.  >:(

Bfellows have you got a pic of the front of your Blue one?  :-\

Cleaner lines on yours.  :)

Time for everyone to bombard ebay with reporting the seller for selling fakes.  :police:

I doubt eBay would even care or attempt to do anything about it. Just my opinion from eBay experience

jeez, fake old school seat clamps - whatever next!

What ever makes money  :daumenhoch:

Just following on from the

Dia Compe seat clamps.
ESP, Pro Neck, Tuf Neck stems.
JMC seat posts.
GT Pro Bars
Tange Grips

etc etc

I'm talking about stuff made specifically to deceive and make money not Johnny Chopper stuff or Jaymzs stems.
