Title: Peregrine 48's
Post by: McQUEEN on July 25, 2014, 07:14 AM
Just had some rims back from the anodisers - they were originally laced to a set of peregrine / suzue 48 hole hubs on what I remember was laced either 3 over 1 or 4 over 1. I took some photos on my mobile before I stripped them down and subsequently lost the phone and the photo's! :uglystupid2:

I have to drop them to a great little bike shop tomorrow with one of the original spokes so they can get relaced. Will he be able to work out how to relace them?

you'd be surprised just how easy it is to do yourself :-)

and its probably a 4x build ... over 3 and under 1 ( so crossing 4 )

How long are the spokes?  You can tell by the length.  :daumenhoch:

http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1344.0.html        (for 3x though :-X; it's also 36 hole but i think that difference doesn't matter..?)

here's one on lacing 48s
http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,169737.msg1701560.html#msg1701560
it's 3x, but think it's also described there how the 4x would be done

ah, here
"step by step instructions that will do a 4 cross patern for 36 or 48 spoke wheels"
http://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=47611             (cheerio Wildon :daumenhoch: ..and caleb_k31)

..and think you can work with our guide after all:
There only difference between a 3x and 4x wheel is that 3x is over 2 spokes and under 1 and 4x is over 3 spokes and under 1.

Other than that it is the same.

Try this. It's an old guide, 2002 or so. George uses a 48 spoke wheel built 4 cross so it should be an exact match, structurally, for your wheel. It will take 2 hours to do one the first time, then it gets quicker and easier each time you do one. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
