can anyone date this GT serial number G684226, i belive it to be a pro or mach one?

Yeah sounds right and should be under the BB not the rear dropout, holes in the forks and rear dropouts :daumenhoch:

thanks for that i hope so. if its any help, the frame's top tube has GT 4130 at the end, and on the rear drop outs it has three holes, one above two with GT stamped next to them

ya, the number is under the bottom bracket, but the fork dropouts are solid, but they definatley look like GT ones, should they have any markings on them.

cat amonst the pidgens time , i just been informed the 'G6' denotes july 1986, in japan. :-\ expert needed i thinks, do dates vary from the uk to the states?

if serial number is on drop then it could start like this 0484 or whatever . if on bb or not starting like that then could be taiwan as i had a gt that was on dropout and serial number was completely different ,don`t forget gt didn`t make everything in usa
