Title: Tioga Beartrap BB Question
Post by: monkian on August 02, 2014, 05:31 PM
Got this Tioga CK-170BT BB Set...
Never used one before but should the Adjusting Cone & Stationary Cone be the same?
Other BB Sets tend to have different Cones (usually one with integral nut & one with a notch type thing).
Has anyone else got one of these Sets to compare with? :-\ ???

All fits together Ok. You can use either one on either side.

Well in that case, they probably made them both the same style because it's cheaper to make one type rather than two types or they put 2 left hand ones in the box by mistake , have you tried google imaging  the part number and see if they are all like it.

Yeah, could well be the case :daumenhoch:
I had trouble finding a decent image online and the Tioga Catalogue only shows one side.
I've just found an early Tange CK-170 Set in my stash and that has x2 of the same Cones on it but it'd be good to see a like-for-like comparison.
It'll probably work alright but I'd just like to know if they're all the same.

I found this shot, which is hard to tell be could the same:

I had an original 80's CV-170 They were different threads but had the same adjusting nut on both sides (identical) even though only the left side was adjustable (less machining costs)
