Title: MK Campsite (Helipad Area).
Post by: Retrodan72 on August 02, 2014, 08:53 PM
Guys, just a quick head's up.

Can those of you arriving first on Saturday morning please spare a thought for your fellow RADsters arriving at the Helipad area after you. Can you try to keep a uniform pattern around the perimeter fence and space yourself as close as possible (we're all friends here).   :-*

It looks as though the 10th anniversary of  :radbmxsmilie: is going to be mainly celebrated at MK, this will mean a large attendance, so with your cooperation keeping the tents and vehicles away from the middle will make more room for people to display their bikes - bikes being the focus of the event after all.

In previous years, people have parked up, unloaded, and moved there car/van to the adjacent field - we can't encourage this enough.

Also, can we please avoid parking and displaying bikes so that the actual Helipad square is covered, around the perimeter is fine. In the event of an emergency, the Air Ambulance will need to land and take off from there, and we don't want to go running around looking for people to move their vehicles.*

The displaying of the bikes in this area has become a big part of the event, so help each other out and make this an amazing display arena.

Thanks again,

TEAM  :radbmxsmilie:

*I hope this is not needed.

Great post Dan - thanks for the info

Just a suggestion: Once the helipad fills up, would it be a good idea for the people in the next field to set themselves up in a similar shape in an organised fashion, therefore making a second arena where bikes could be displayed like around the helipad? This would help to make those people in the field next door feel less excluded. See the yellow lines on the photo below. Maybe people could park on the smaller grassed area highlighted in blue?

Just a suggestion...... Feel free to comment/compliment/complain...
Oh, and keep it  :radbmxsmilie:

Original image altered slightly, showing MK virgins where the access points to the helipad and adjacent field are in red. The areas in yellow where I've suggested people make camp/set up could be extended further north, depending on how full this area gets of course. Only a suggestion on my part, but I do think that it will add to the atmosphere and community vibe if we try to organise ourselves in a similar fashion. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome radsters...

Question to all those who have been before from an MK Newbie.

Im staying at the hotel, would it be sensible to leave the car at MK, (is there room , is it safe) and cycle to the back and forward to the hotel / Event. Can the hotel store bikes in the room?
Or is the car best left at the Hotel, and me carry anything i dont intend buying, but cant resist ....obviously because i need it!!!

Im thinking bike stands / tools etc. and other stuff to be left at the track then.
Just looking for those experienced here for sensible :LolLolLolLol: guidance......if possible.

Cheers Chapperz

cars will be safe at mk if you want to ride to and from the hotel , just make sure you park it somewhere where it doesn`t cause a issue ie on the main road into and out of mk

which hotel you at Paul?

just found out the premier inn charge £4 a day, so you might want to leave your car at MK anyway and use the bike to get there n back (that's what I'm going to do)
