Hi there.
Does anyone know how to identify the date of manufacture on Ammaco's?
Many thanks in advance if you do.
-
Simon, i'm guessing you have one?
Have you looked for a serial number at all? ???
-
I do have one, I have the serial number, just need to know how to decipher it. Any ideas?

If you put the serial number up on here, there will be someone who can decipher it.

I posted the same question about my Freestyle Pro a fair while ago now and never fathomed it out so I will be following this with interest.....

OK lets give it a go.........DSBM40605161, rather than just being given a date I would like to know how its done, so if ever questioned I can confirm its date. Many thanks.

I think that is the link to my thread....

Yes I looked at this thread before I signed up on here, I have been using BMX Museum but most stuff and people there are American so not much Ammaco stuff on there.

Hopefully somebody who knows more than me will be along shortly with an answer. If you PM me your email I can mail you a scan if a mag review on the Freestyle Pro if you like.
For now here's my serial no. too:-

Thanks for the links, although I could not see anything that was linked to Ammaco production.....did I miss something that you picked up on? I saw the DSBM bit, but couldn't pull any info from it.

Yeah that was what i saw too
in both links the census was first digit year
Digits 2 & 3 month rest production number
But sadly no definative answer
I'll try and look at my ammaco and see if it conforms
Never actually checked the serial number

That seems to make good sense to me. The first thing to check would be to find an example with the later unstamped gusset to make sure this dating method indicates a later build date.
June '84 sounds right for mine though. Thanks for the info :coolsmiley:

Ah well done, seems like there perhaps is something in that. Lets see what happens if we are able to pool more numbers, it might start to build a pattern. Nice work lads.
