I'm contemplating whether to have my Vector Mark 2 painted in a pearlescent white, rather than a flat OG colour (must be the freestyle builder in me?) Any thoughts? Similarly I'm planning on having another freestyle frame and forks finished in "non standard" colours cause I quite like them. Nothing spectacular, but not exactly original finish...... more new school looking at a push on an old school bike.
Has the sun got to me and I'm being a complete nobber again, or has Clint beat me to this a hundred times already....... Pictures anyone?

Go for it, Unless the original finish is mint. If it needs painting then do what you want. Can always be stripped and painted flat white in the future.
Did bikes not get custom paint jobs BITD.
-
I think its OK.
B.I.T.D we used to pop to Halfords and buy unusual rattle can colours to make our bikes look different and spruce them up.
One of my mates borrowed his Mums lipstick to colour match. Then got a paint shop to paint his bike the same colour 8)

Yeah we used to wrap our bikes wi electricians tape bitd
Kustom kolours is kool !

No worries here either,
Custom colours if done well can look amazing if partnered with the right custom decals & parts.
My only issue is when it's not done well or when the customisation is taken a little too far.
I've seen some horrendous custom colour combinations in the last 18 months & weirdly by (repeat offenders) who seem to chuck 2 or 3 colours together & hope for the best but to my taste it hasn't worked well on their builds..
Each to their own though mate & beauty is in the eye of the beholder (n all that) ! I know whatever you do it will come out well. I guess though its an expensive game if you get it wrong & have to re strip & Paint a couple of times.. :daumenhoch:

Do it. It's your bike so paint it to please yourself, not others. If people think it looks rank then i suppose some of them will tell you but as long as it makes you smile then it's all good.

Cheers fellas, colours are being done by SBD so no worries about quality ;) Freestyler is only going 2 colours and one of them is black, so things shouldn't look too lairy......... just a little different and definitely not an OG option.
The Vector I think would look great in pearlescent, but I do wonder whether I might struggle to move it on..... decals are staying original as I already have them.
-
Its only paint/powder Bert and can soon be done white like every other bike when you want to move it on ;D

Wrap it in electricians tape :daumenhoch:

Bert I've seen a Vector Freestyler done in Yellow with Black parts and it looked lovely it's the same frame just with extra tubing.

I like custom colours and have done a Baby Blue Rickman FS,a Black MRD Badlander and my next one is a peppermint green Haro FST.
I just like to be different and as has been said above if paired with nice parts and custom decals can look stunning so use your imagination I say!

Wrap it in electricians tape :daumenhoch:
I could go for parcel tape for the desert beige look........

you can't really go wrong with black and a colour, built my haro sport round a set of lavender ogk wheels. got some custom decals and lavender cables and it turned out ok.

Not done yet fella, its undergoing minor surgery at the moment to sort out a few dings an bits that turned up when I had it stripped. As soon as I get it back its only got to be built as I have all the bits ready to finish ;)
