No doubt you have all seen these frame sets now in Chrome with the Chrome bars to match.
What's your thoughts guys, 19.75" TT looks decent for taller riders..
I have no freestyle bikes and didn't BITD... But ........ :( :smiley6600: .. I might be tempted to roll down to Alan for a chat very soon...

That looks very nice

I was in hope you would put me off them Dan... "bump".
Got me thinking of a bloody colour scheme and shopping list now... Deep breath.and think... . You don't need another bike...breath out, just one more... Drat, mutely... >:D

Is it a euro bottom bracket?

No way, I think they look great, had an FST myself, and loved it.
-
Is it a euro bottom bracket?
No mate US standard albeit reinforced ringed.
-
How much would an 84 or 85 be in superb chrome?
-
They are selling for around £400 without the bars aren't they ???
-
They are selling for around £400 without the bars aren't they ???
Yeah, Alan's are doing them for £399. :daumenhoch:

I know it's not 'blingy' but, you can buy this survivor '85 FST frame and fork for $175 (£115)
Postage to the UK is $75 (£48)
http://bmxmuseum.com/forsale/142687
By the time you have a laid a new chrome job it, it will still work out a little less than this re-issue one and it's a genuine 1985 frame and fork :daumenhoch:
Personally, I would keep it survivor, the parts would be cheaper to get too :)
-
Dazza you need one of these :daumenhoch:
-
Just been on the alans site, im sorely tempted

Lenny... stop it....

Good consumer advice, as ever Terry, for anyone wanting to dip their toe in the Haro pond. :daumenhoch:

I'm over t'pond in a few weeks, might have a punt on that survivor, top tip Tezza!
-
Dazza you could have this gift wrapped ... merry xmas to you .

Grab it quick before the American's wake up though buddy. It won't last long at that price :daumenhoch:

Tried to buy it Tez but the seller was a bit of a thicko.
Couldn't get his head round me buying it then posting it to my pal in San Diego for some reason.
Just remembered why I never visit that site!

I know what you mean Mat. communication can be VERY difficult sometimes, even though we're supposed to be speaking the same language! I've had a few good buys and dealt with some great people on the museum recently though. Any more thoughts on this Darren? - Personally I'd go for the original one, but I love a project and the dramas that go with it!!
-
It looks nice Darren but if was spending £400 on a frame and forks i think i would rather have an original 80's one .
A nice survivor one sold today on here for £375 , it was a White one though ... http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,178326.0/topicseen.html
Having said that I love my Skyway TA24 but the chances of me getting the real thing from the 80's was slim to none :D
It's your cash mate , spend it how you want :daumenhoch:
-
They should've gone full new school with it, new geometry, 21" TT and internal headset. Might've been tempted myself then
-
yep as pickle says why 19.5 as still too short and you might as well ride a original as they were only 18 inch if your using it for a ride around as you wouldn`t use one of them for new skool as your be banging your knees .
pointless and another cash in on old skool bmx
-
To be fair it looks great in chrome .... Its personal choice and price ... If Alan is giving you a good price then go for it but as others have said for £400 I'd rather get an original but you're unlikely to find one in chrome ....
Where you at now on this Dazza? :daumenhoch:

I thought the original Sport was longer?
-
I like the look of these new reproduction Haro's. But I would build in reproduction parts. :)
-
I like it.
A-It hasn't got brake lugs
B-It looks oldschool
C- It's blingy chrome.
The best oldschool reissue so far in my opinion was the Anniversary Goose but I think this tops it.
Would be tempted but I have just got an FST project ,very tempted on the Vector style bars as well..... :daumenhoch:
-
Still undecided Ant, spoke to the guys today and just milling it over at the moment £500 needs a bit of respect before it goes on yet another ornament or part of one to be accurate
-
If you get it .. Go for it in a big way !! Put some great NOs parts on it and put it in the MK15 show and shine in the retro section... Could be a real lush build mate ! :4_17_5: :smitten:

no 18 inch i think like most frames back then ie trickstar`s so on . i think it was only the redline rl20 II that was 19 inch back in the day
i check on mine what length it is when can get to it
-
must admit i always thought the sport was a little but longer than the Master ???
-
The Sport was longer than the master:
The Sport frameset: The Sport utilizes most of the Master's proven features. 4130 chromoly tubing, precision machined bottom bracket shell and head tube, identical forks, dropouts, and reinforcing gusset. The Sport's wheelbase is longer (36" -37") for improved tracking and stability at higher speeds. (Steering is not as quick as the Master.) The Sport features a unique two into one top tube design that provides a slightly shorter platform area than the Master.
Rich Sigur, www.notfreestylin.com: The 4130 chromoly frame (a big deal back then) was great for what it was designed for: small ramp and flatland. But my style of riding was primarily ramps and skateparks, so the early Master did not suit me so well. The shorter wheelbase was not as stable in the air. I discovered this fact one afternoon while practicing on my back yard quarter pipe. "Oh @#$! it hurts" is what I remember most about that bike. A week later I politely brought Bob his bike back and told him, "Sorry bro, I cant ride this bike anymore, hurts too much." That's not to say that the bike wasn't good it just wasn't for me. Other riders had success with it on vert including Eddie Fiola, and Mike Dominguez. Bob Haro designed the Sport frame for me because I wanted something longer, than the Master for riding skateparks and wood ramps, which was my area of experience at the time. I actually didn't get involved with flatland until my first tour in 1984. Bob suggested I learn some flatland because I didn't have enough tricks to last an entire show.

Thanks buddy 19.5" should be more spacious for me. :4_17_5:

very tempted on the Vector style bars as well..... :daumenhoch:
I seem to remember reading that the new Vector/Haro bars have a slightly larger diameter 'stem' shaft, and apparently won't fit old school forks :-\

The bars on the completes have a slightly larger diameter, but the ones being sold separately apparently are OS size (Stodgy had a pair for sale recently)
All the new ones have some differences to the OG ones though
