put a little grease on the posts, put on the brake arms and tension the springs. about a quarter turn of tension is usually enough, too much and the brake will feel crap. pull out the inner wire from the cable housing and put a little grease on it then put it back in and connect it up. a little grease on the barrel helps too, i dont bother toeing in brake blocks as i like the pads to hit the rim flat. it may squeal but it'll work and get some decent pads. remember grease is your friend.

Take it I need to tension the arms so the brake block end is towards the wheel ???

Tension pads/blocks away from rim, Unless you want your brakes on all the time. :)

I did say I was an idiot !!!!!!
Thanks Gary. Doesn't matter how they're tensioned if I can't sort these rear cables 😬😬😬

Can't get a good lever feel compared to my caliper brakes, but they seem to work good though
Don't want to tension the springs more than (3/4 turn) I have incase I fook em.

Any suggestions ???

Have you done what was said above, Lubricate all moving parts, Cable, Brake arm pivots, Cable barrell where it sits in the lever.
Is there any sharp bends in the cable?

Never seen a noodle used like that before, I'd try letting off the tension. When you say the feel at the lever, What do you mean?
The more tension you have on the brake arms the harder it will be to pull the lever.
I know on Odyssey brakes the springs are sided, You might have the springs on the wrong side.

Copied the noodle thingy from this (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/14/7040ad5613176cc7f72e3a6ea800b7cd.jpg)
The lever is nice & easy to pull & the brake actually works/grabs well . It just doesn't go hard (oooooerrrrrr) when the blocks contact the wheel like a caliper brake does. never had 990's before so may just be the way they are ????

Good morning :LolLolLolLol:
The only thing I can see between the two pics is the tightness of the cable between the arms.
Yours seems to have a curve in it and the red bike looks straight and taught.
Might be that once the blocks hit the rim, then you are getting more lever travel as the cable straightens out, Hope that makes sense.

The other thing to remember is there is two types of springs; a gold and a silver spring.

To get the best out of them, the gold spring goes in the same side as the decal.

Cheers Gordy, they were brand new & I've not swapped them about but I will check & make sure 👍

Yup Gordy is correct in saying there are 2 colours of spring... one is left hand wound one is right hand wound...if they are in the wrong arm the pads will pull naturally into the rim instead of away as you would expect.
I suspect its lever feel is more mushy than you are used to on calipers due to the extra leverage you get with AD's.
Hope that makes sense! :daumenhoch:

Certainly does cookie, mushy perfectly describes the lever feel 😆😆

If it feels mushy, you will have one, or a combination of these going on;
Soft/misaligned brake blocks,
poor cable line,
insufficient lube,
excessive flex or "take up" in the cable routing,
uneven spring tension in the arms - most common cause, corrected by checking to see if one arm hits the rim earlier than the other. Assuming the wheel is central, then adjust spring tension in one arm only, add or remove tension a bit at a time until you reach an even setting. Use as little tension as possible.
Hope this makes sense!!
Ad's are sh1tloads better than any caliper, once you're used to them.

Hiya kid's.
Done away with the noodle thingy, shortened the cable a bit & followed everbody's advice & BINGO !!! The fooker works that good it's shown up the slightly loose headset that's gonna be a ball ache to tighten 😬😬😬(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/19/b46b58d7a46450e2d20430103ed362e9.jpg)

Holy shit, that Morales looks awesome.

You have some neat parts on there. Those Kore zero offset forks, kore pegs, peregrine pedals and juice bars are all bad ass pieces. Well done
