Title: Newbie
Post by: Bry on November 16, 2014, 07:11 PM
Hi all,

I'm Bry. After nearly 10 years of not riding I've hit an early mid-life crisis and bought a brand spanking new BMX (due to arrive on my doorstep Tuesday) a Fit Conway 3.

I wasn't very good 10 years ago, so god knows what I'll be able to achieve this time around!

I'll be back to show off the bruises!

Cheers

Bry

Thanks guys. I'll get pics up as soon as it's assembled.

I'm amazed how much bikes have changed in the last 10-15 years. My first BMX was a mid '90s Mongoose Menace when I was at Uni in '99. I then had a 2000 Specialized Vegas which lasted a good few years.

Well, it arrived during the week and finally got around to putting it together this evening. I'm very happy with it - impressed with the quality of the welding and parts (although I may change the pedals). I'm also thinking of cutting the bars down an inch as they feel a little wide.

:welcome back to a world of pain ,  and more importantly loads of fun  :daumenhoch:    have a look in the members events and gatherings and get yourself along to one of the meetings  :daumenhoch: better to ride it than polish it  :daumenhoch:

this is going to make no sense at all but try lowering the stem before you cut the bars down , put the spacers on top of the stem ,   give the bars a good go, before cutting em down  , ns bikes ride/feel completely different to what you probably remember your old bikes were like

I doubt I will cut them, it'll just take some getting used to. The last bars I had were ridiculously narrow!
