Title: Headset headache
Post by: CustardLips on November 18, 2014, 11:21 AM
Right what's the crack with these GT/FSA/Epoch headsets... am I doing something wrong here or are these fookers bike/fork specific ?

Everything seems to have gone together correctly but I've no room up top for the washer and lock nut.  ???

The new headsets stack height is too tall compared to the one you removed.
Only thing to check is the ball races are the rite way up but i assume that would be really obvious.
You probably had a traditional steel headset before and the new alloy one is way deeper...new lower stack height headset required...sorry to give you bad news. :pilky:

I've fooked it off and put a beartrap on.  :daumenhoch:

Forced myself to change the headset after looking at it for the last 3 mths whilst stoned and telling myself "I'll do it tomorrow... I'll do it tomorrow".  Fookin thing.  :LolLolLolLol:

Cheers Cookie.  ;)

shouldnt the alloy cap cover most of the headset cup, thats what the normal gt epoch headsets do.

No, it's got a plastic cup section beneath the alloy cap what the spring clip sits inside, the alloy top cap then covers the plastic section. Like I said though everything was sat on there nice and bonny but no room for the washer and lock nut.   ???
Had the same trouble in the past when tryna fit an Epoch to a Robinson I had. Struggled and fooked that one off too.  :-\
