As a bmx enthusiast and a quite active viewer of this forum although not an active poster it does pain me that there is such negativity towards people you dont know but then there are always keyboard warriors on forums Thumbs down I am a youngish hard working parent and cannot afford cheque book bikes so I do buy and sell bikes here and there but I do also collect them most of which are in survivor condition sorry for asking for an idea of what I had found and if you read my first post it states I dont get time to get on here as much as I would love to so thanks to those who are of help :daumenhoch:

Whereas I agree with the masses I would like to think we could maintain an innocent until proven guilty policy and hold off on the jibes until the for sale ad pops up :-X

True dat Clint.
I only said 'poo poo' in the first response as it's the only time on the forum a poster has given me the opportunity to mention scattage.
Thread needs a pie chart, so have produced one:
If you look at the pie chart and twist your head to the left, it looks like Pac-man with yellow 'Bee Gees' like teeth.

Think pretending not knowing what you've bought 'when it says it down the frame' you must know full well what you've bought, and if you're a collector as you say you are you know 'what' in all probability what it's worth, so you post does come across as a ' please make me an offer by pm' thread....

Good to see a bunch of negative comments getting people fired up the night before we all go back to work
I imagine it will ease off a bit once Top Gear is back on

There hasn't been a 'bunch of negative comments' you fister.
You must work for the Daily Mail!
-
:daumenhoch: no worries swan guy I know it must get asked a lot
I knew it was a supergoose of course, I can read but am no expert And had not seen one with those forks ???
certainly wasnt asking for offers as its not for.sale I have started collecting parts to do it up :daumenhoch:
-

Sorry mate that isn't a Supergoose, it's a standard Mongoose with a sticker set on it as it would have to be a Team frame so "T" in the serial number and flattened rear stay by the chain. Team or Super Mk1's used the same f&f and were 100% chromo - they're the easiest Goose to work out :coolsmiley:
Still got a stack of quality parts on it and a bargain if £90 so wipe it down, tighten it all up and get it ridden >:D
-
Oh right ok cheers mate I guess never believe the stickers :uglystupid2: will get out on it when time allows ::)

Someone else said at the beginning asking 'what's it worth' isn't good forum etiquette, you said you understood that but persisted.
Why?
As said 'what's it worth' is just an another way of holding an auction via PM.
If you're as much of a BMX enthusiast as you claim to be then you'll respect other BMX enthusiasts by not asking.
If you'd have just shown your find and asked what it was I'd have just congratulated you on your great find and passed on by.
It's really all Griff and Ed's fault without these new smilies :feebay: and Thumbs down this would never have happened.

Look so as not to offend anymore I have edited my post as I would still l:ke to come to mk next year without needing a disguise :LolLolLolLol:

i wouldn't go too mad on it though, looks cool as it is :daumenhoch:

Were you cooking the pig last year Rich ??? :-\
-
Joff, having met Rich and suviving the experience without feeling dirty and abused, I can confirm that the bloke cooking the pig was far, far wierder
"Is that even possible?" I hear Chris ask...... my advice is to only agree to meet Rich in well lit, very public places. I had to decline his original venue suggestions of "somewhere in the deep dark woods" and "the dank, dangerous basement under my house" before he accpeted the centre of Birmingham in our office foyer, so maybe anyone meeting up with him should do the same ???
"did you eat the pig; I cooked the pig" was barely human once he got going......... especially when he was trying to stroke Griff
-
Tyres sorted so just good clean and you've got a pretty cool bike there, enjoy it :daumenhoch:

I'll take your word for it Spen but i'll be keeping all my dealings with Rich strictly to PM's and i'll leave the meet and greet to the Royal Mail if he ever wants anything from me .
-

-
Cheers guys just a couple of other bits to sort like the cal lite frame pad is missing the cover and I have some gold dx pedals to replace the blue ones and needs new chain and freewheel as rotten I will post pics up when done :daumenhoch:
-
Nice Goose mate,Mongoose stem as well ,that is a great find, gives us all hope they are still out there.
Strange it has been re stickered as a Supergoose.
What are the bars ?
-
Yeah odd about the stickers :chin:
unsure about the bars mate what should I look for ??
-
so what is it worth
-
Loving that Strongs sticker on the chain stays :smitten: Not seen one of those for years.
-
Have you worked out what model it is yet? :) Did I get close? :-\
Nice find. :) Is it a Mongoose Wire Wheel? :-\
-
Only got as far as its not a supergoose as stickered but just a normal mongoose 1980 build year :-\
-
I did not notice the supergoose decal until someone mentioned it. :-[
Did the person selling it at the boot fair say anything about the history of the bike? :)
-
No mate he was just a dealer.

-
I might be wrong but didn't Cook Brothers do bars like that?
I'm probably wrong :-[
I know nothing other than GT and CW :'(
I'm rubbish at this guess stuff :teef:
-
I'd agree with Nick above cook bros they do repros now but judging by the bike it doesn't look like it's been touched for years so I'd say they are right
-
After a little nosey on google seems you guys are right they look lke cook bros bars I am gonna try get the grips off at some point see if there are any markings :daumenhoch:
-
Yes they are Cook Bros bars and very rare what a great find.
Strongs Bicycles was in Palmerston Road in Boscombe/Bournemouth.
If you don't mind me asking, where are you from and where did you find it?
PM me if you don't want to put it on here.
-
Never seen Cook Brothers bars with the crossbar welded that high ???
The turn down angle doesn't look right either .
I don't think they are but wtf do i know :D
-
bargaintastic. its yours to do what you wish with but the noble thing to do would be to keep it as is , sort the consumables and and ride it :slayer:

I stand corrected, yes they are welded quite high aren't they,I presumed that if the bike was original they would indeed be Cook Bros bars as they are from that era?
-
Look like Goose bars OK but intentionally made but with the crossbar Cooks Bros style, if this was the BMXmuseum I reckon people would be screaming prototype.
-
PROTOTYPE!!

I have had a good look at the bars tonight and can't see any names on them and they have been cut down the welds are neat but wouldn't say amazing :-[ and there is a small lump in between the mongoose stem so would only really fit that type of stem :-\

Nice Goose btw ba5h :daumenhoch:
-
Sorry yeah I hope this is better and thanks :daumenhoch:
-
They look like they have been brazed to me,which suggests they are UK made :Great_Britain:
-
What is with that notch?
Is it supposed to be for a lower brake lever mount or summink?

As far as im aware that's exactly the reason , handy if you were running a pre bent lever :daumenhoch:
-
Sorry yeah I hope this is better and thanks :daumenhoch:
No need for apologies mate ;)
Well .... my verdict is they aren't , reasons ...
Crossbar welded too high
bend doesn't look right
welding , like Olly says ... they look brazed and Cooks were neatly welded .
Someone will probably prove me wrong though :D ....... or they might be PROTOTYPE's !! ;D
Cool bars though , always good to have something a bit different to the norm 8)
-
There's definitely a story behind this bike.
It's stickered up as a supergoose.
It has bars similar to pro class bars but with the cooks mod and the brazing so most likely British as BFO says, custom made I reckon.
