Title: How do you remove chrome?

Ive seen some lovely restos on here that were once chrome frames that have ended up painted/powdercoated... id like to do the same - but how do you get the chrome off? ANy help please!!

You don't have to remove the chrome. If you get it powdered the company you use will be able prep the surface prior to coating. Same applies for painting just a quick rub down to prime the surface :daumenhoch:

have wet n dryed and sandpapered the chrome down to be as flat as poss - taking it to the powdercoaters tomorrow - think itll work?

get em to do a candy coat on top of the chrome, I think this is the technique Hutch used for their original fook oops on chrome frames !? hence a load of candy coated Hutch's !

that's if ya want candy !

otherwise its a good rub down  ;)

mine goes into costic then charged to release the chrome.

Do you have to remove or prepare the chrome for powder, or can you powder over the top??
