Got chatting to a guy on Reddit who picked up a '78 Torker at a thrift shop.
He's now been offered some money for the frame and he asked me how much I thought it was worth (I don't know what he's been offered yet) so what do you reckon chaps....?
Personally I think it's a real shame to split it, but you know how it is...

That's a real nice survivor ... Get him to sell it on here as a complete !
I'm sure the Torker fans would love it.
As for value.... It's s bit of a sore subject on here dude ...
-
I got a pack of genuine Chewitts and a Sherbert dip that I only sucked on the liquorice once. The sherbert is like a bullet though so I wouldn't try eating it :D
Wanna swap

Oh dear I didn't realise! (I've not been on for a while as having two children has seen my build remain in boxes in the garage)
I just wanted to give the guy a rough guide. I've been out of the hobby for a while and this is before my era anyway! Oh and he's in the US!
Man I just realised how long it's been. It was the big 'reset' of the forum. I now only have 2 posts. :(

Just pulling ya leg, it's an old one that's for sure.
You need to contact Wigan ask them, they'll all be out eating pies and chip barms at the minute.
they'll be along shortly no doubt :daumenhoch:

That's a Torker...?? :wtf:
One of the first Rich 8) Not the nicest geometry is it :D
-
Like the Bars on it. What are they :-\
-
Those horrible rear dropouts look a bit like what were on some of the cheap huffy's, they always looked a bit happy shopper, squashed in a vise and spot welded to me.

Never seen one before. As John has said the rear dropouts are nasty.
-
It's not a 78 but a 77 with those drop outs. The serial number will tell you the exact year and month.
Interested ? Yes I certainly am.

Either generic fluted, Webco (which will be stamped) or VDC :daumenhoch:
-
now thats a very early Torker ...... needs to come home to Wigan does that . :coolsmiley:
-
3 pork pies (melton mowbray) :daumenhoch:
-
Looks ace does that! I dont think those rear dropouts look that bad to me, the welds look good. Never seen one before but looks cool :daumenhoch:

It's still a nice bit of history :daumenhoch:

I don't think any rebuild will make it look any better than it looks now.
I'd tell your mate £800 but only sell complete, if he splits he will find it hard to sell the parts once that f**king lush F&F are gone 👍
-
Cheers guys,
Not my mate, just a guy on Reddit who I got chatting to when I answered some of his questions in the cycling sub.
He also posted it on the TorkerBMX facebook page and he's had a decent offer for the f&f from the guy that runs the page. Sad to see it split, but I think he's going to take as it as he's not into the scene....Just lucky!
-
Now that is supercool.
I am sure he would get a good price on US Ebay...
-
He has a couple of options
- Go for maximum cash and bung it on ebay with a low starting bid - it will find its own value
- Go for maximum karma points and sell it to an enthusiast
Either way it would be a real shame to split it up after it's been together that long
-
it will find its own value
Depends who's looking at the time. If a very clean TA in OG finish sells on ebay for £180 then that doesn't reflect the going rate or universally acknowledged value.

Depends if he tells everyone it's on ebay :teef:
Anyway there's no such thing as 'universally acknowledge value' for stuff like this, just supply and demand

There's always a niche & within that lies that value.
-
that's awesome, as said, it will find its own value on ebay but best off waiting at least til March when peoples finances start to level out after chrimbo and thoughts start to sway towards MK ;)
or take a reasonable offer from a member on here and get satisfaction from all all ends :)

I disagree, we're not talking about tins of beans or bog roll, timing and loads of other factors dictate a price
If another one popped up (unlikely but not impossible) then value would definitely be affected

I never know what I'm talking about. I need to exercise restraint...especially in breathing.

I think your targa value is safe though Rich ;) don't think anyone's going to unearth a barn full of those any time soon!
-
What have you done with rich ???
-
Looks like this could well have been sold, some info tells me it's heading down under :daumenhoch:
