whats the usual difference in Expert and Pro TT frame sizes?
eg. if a Pro XL frame is 19.5 ... what would an Expert frame be?
roughly :)
-
17.5"...??
-
Curtis Expert and Pro frames are 18.5 and 19.5 respectively if thats any help :daumenhoch:
-
My Hutch Pro was 19.5. and my little bros Expert was 18.5.
-
A standard TA is 18.5 & that's not an expert.
-
I have an 88 Elf which is 19.5... was told it's an expert. :daumenhoch:
Whether that's right or wrong i don't know. ???
-
Late 84-86 GT Pro 18.5"
GT Expert (i think) was 17.5"
Dannyrobo may know as he had a chrome one a couple of years ago.

Same with MRD Ed, the expert was 18.5" and the Pro 19.5" - they did special XXL frames for Tim I believe that were getting on for 21" but Animal would have to confirm :daumenhoch:
Standard Mongoose and Supergoose tt length was 18.5" from the late 70's to the late 80's but I have no idea after that as I have no interest after about '84 / 85 frames until newschool :-\
I'd go 18.5" & 19.5" as your answer roughly :coolsmiley:
-
Birmingham WHEELS Intermediate/Expert was 18.5inch, the Pro being 19.5inch (Mini being 17.5).
-
Yup Robbo along the same sizes around 1" difference.
The GT Pro geometry fools the Tape dims though lol
-
MRD are :-
Expert 18"
Pro 19"
XL-Pro 20" 1/4 (massive  )
-
due to difference in seat tube angles, BB to top of h/tube is probably where the biggest difference is.
-
That's a good point!
I also get the impression that tt lengths increased (and therefore the designation of "expert" and "pro" models changed) through the 80s, with many of the early-mid 80s classics (GTs, Skyway T/As, Laserlites, etc) being around the 18.5-mark, and longer versions coming thereafter. Thank god for laybacks! :daumenhoch:
-
Im assuming we're all measuring from centre of seat tube to centre of head tube? :daumenhoch:
GT Expert is 17", same as the junior.... just saying :-*
