Title: standing gear to landing gear
Post by: jezza on August 27, 2006, 07:13 PM
right guys, getting landing gears is pretty difficult, how hard would it be to convert some standing gears to landing gears, from what i can see its only the extra bit that is welded to the forks. take it off, then get it painted, i know this may be controversial, but is it possible

I've thought about this a few times, i doubt it'd be that hard if you are good with metal.

The only prob I can see is getting rid of where the tig weld has 'bitten' into the fork leg to polish that out may leave the wall pretty thin but you don't know till you try (and you could always fill and wet spray instead of powder or chrome so it wouldn't be noticable)

People still used Standing Gear Forks on Race bikes back in the day so I can't see it makes that much differance really. It's a lot of money to waste if it all goes pearshaped. Landing gear copies stickered up would be a better alternative.

I'd wait Jezza, a set of landing gear is bound to turn up, hold out for them.
