Title: Drilled rims

Post by: Munnyella on February 13, 2015, 06:04 PM: Didn't drill araya's, but have done a set of cheapo single wall rims, easy enough if you set your self up properly I made a jig up from a bit of flat steel, 2 bots of rod that dropped through 2 spoke holes with a guide hole between the 2 rods, saved marking up for every hole.

Used a bit of stiff strapping from a pallet as rim tape.

Yeeee Haaaa!!!

Must have been OK, Kappy bought them!!

Post by: 58 delray on February 18, 2015, 12:29 PM: if you are going to drill out some rims to make pro-class rims dont use araya's.......araya's were never used to make pro-class rims bitd (except for the 24" version)
the rims were made in Taiwan for mongoose (by sumo i believe) and the holes were stamped out not drilled.
sumo's are still easy to get and a lot cheaper than araya's ;)
the steel versions were made by CMC.
