1/2 finished bikes! Due to waiting on parts that never come around or not getting around to spending anytime on your builds. What's the longest you've had one laying around and on a scale of 1 to 10 how frustrated are you getting?
Feel free to post some photo's of your 1/2 finished bike's here. Let's see what you've got stashed away?

Think Steve will win this. I'm sure his last mrd was a ten year build
-
Really? That's some staying power! Let's have a look at it Steve?
It's great to see everyone's finished bikes on the site. Would also be interesting to see the bikes that haven't been finished as yet. What rare parts are you waiting on, and if they show up are you willing to pay over the odds for them?

I have a chrome KZ-1 build thats been going on for almost 6 years - I spent over 4 years looking for the tyres (a personal record).
I'm now just a frame pad away... That search is scoring a 7 as its the last part...

Ive got a Trickstar and a DP firebird ive had since about 1993, and still not built them. Also about 18 to 20 others that have come along since every year or so and not a single bike built. Can anybody top that one. :(
Although I did have a go at mid school for a couple of years and built a few to ride HAF, Condor etc and still got a couple of them in bits as well.
-
That's a sweet bike Jaan. Your are pretty tolerant waiting 4 years on a pair of tyres, jesus! I bet you was pretty elated when they eventually come off. The patience people show in this game is amazing!
-
haha, having 20 bikes unfinished! I can see how you've got there though. I started off doing one but ended up with four builds on the go.
-
2 yrs .

I tend to collect the parts then build in a oner. If I can't get the exact part (green GT seat comes to mind) I will build with an alternative part and await the desired part becoming available. That is one thing I will say to anybody struggling with parts, the bit you want WILL eventually turn up. It must be a MRD thing as mine was sat on the shelf for 4 years before I got round to building it despite having the parts :idiot2:
I can't be doing with half built bikes kicking around the place. It's either a pile of bits or built :daumenhoch:
-
I've got to have had my No-Ped for at least 5 years now. Did show it at MK a couple of years ago unfinished.
-
I'm always busting to put it together 1/2 built Nick. I couldn't imagine having to wait a year or two before i seen any progress. Soul destroying that. I do the same sometimes buy a lesser or second option part and resell and replace it once the part comes up i'm looking for.
-
My trouble is I see a bike I want, start collecting bits, then I see another bike I want.
Trouble is I want them all. ;D

Yeah, easily done that. I have to stop myself from looking at anymore frames for that reason.
You got any photo's of your stash?
-
I agree with Nick on this one. I like to gather all the parts, then only build once all the parts are there. I like to do the customary 'Hutch' parts shot before i get started. My longest build was a Hutch Pro Racer. 3 years.

About 10 years, got my Haro Master in 2004 or 2005 and it's still in the box. It's been through about three sets of possible components until I finally settled on a replica of the one I had bitd which came about when parts I used to have on mine starting surfacing. I have pretty much a choice of three for most components like bars, stems, grips, tyres, seats, pedals and so on :LolLolLolLol:
-
A day is too long.
As soon as I've opened the box I'm throwing parts at it, all new entries are built from stock items.
I then take a step back and decide what I don't like on it.
All my builds evolve just like they did when I was a kid :daumenhoch:
In the same mentality, I don't believe in a "done bike"
-
i think you have matured well steve . dont put yourself down. :LolLolLolLol:
-
Got a few bikes I have all the parts for, but unbuilt as have no room to display :(
-
I've been building a Burner for the last 2 years. Got all the bit's other than a seat clamp but just need to get it painted ready for building. Might try and get it finished for MK?
