Title: The answer to the question "How to remove sticky residue"
Post by: stidds on March 07, 2015, 09:39 AM
I see this question loads and lots of different answers.

If you want a 100% sure way of removing sticky residue and with no hard scrubbing etc try Methyl Ethyl Ketone.  It will take it off your bike like lightening.

I use it for removing years old dried petrol lacquer from carburretors when refurbing them, so it is strong stuff.

It is cheap too......

How can it be free Kev?  Don't you have to buy it in the first place to have it in your cupboard? :LolLolLolLol:

Be careful that M.E.K is lethal we use it for cleaning our printing press's....always use in a well ventilated area, dont get it on your skin or eyes! and don't get it on any plastics as it will melt it! just ask my ex boss as the trainey cleaned the guards on one of our presses and buggered up £1800 worth of plastic guards!!  :D

I use lighter fluid to remove price stickers from record covers.
Works a treat on sticky areas

This is easy to get, it's IPA in an aerosol.

Don't use it on parts you've painted yourself though!
