Alreet lads :)
I have been chatting with Griff about the possibility of putting together a little zine for MK this year. The idea would be for you guys to send me whatever you feel may be relevant, old photos, stories of previous MK's, drawings, cartoons, how too's, interviews, possibly stickers, an itinerary of the weekend, all that sort of stuff you may have expected to find in a zine bitd.
It will probably look along the line of an aggro rag/Fat zine in black and white with a coloured paper cover.

I would be compiling, editing and printing the zine but would need you guys to make it what it could be :daumenhoch:
At the moment the idea is that it would be free and just add to the great weekend that is MK but we may ask for donations which would ALL go into the MK pot for next year :)
It doesnt matter if you cant spell, draw or even ride a bike, we will consider anything and everything for entry into the mag and would love to get it up to 25 - 30 pages if possible
If we can use this thread to knock ideas around and people either pm or physically post me stuff to compile, that way its a fresh read for everyone :daumenhoch:
Editorial Staff of 4 or 5 now being sought, put your name forward if you fancy it lads
Thoughts gents :)

What a superb idea Clint and huge thanks for doing all the work :4_17_5:
-
Great idea. :)
Will it be available to radsters who can't attend? :-\
:daumenhoch:
-
I dont see why not if you can cover the postage :daumenhoch:
-
What a brilliant idea .... I love it... Lots!! 8) :4_17_5: :daumenhoch: :smitten:
Soooo :radbmxsmilie:!
-
I'll have to get my crayons out :daumenhoch:
Great idea Clint, how about a vote off to decide on a name?
Just to get things going, I suggest Tenty Tooty :teef:
-
Great idea Clint :4_17_5:

That's possibly the best idea you've had Lenny

A map of how to get back to the Hotel would be good got me, Wini, Swivel etc etc etc.
Great idea Clint. :4_17_5:

PM sent Clint :daumenhoch:

Great idea Clint. :4_17_5:
How about a guide to the top 10 al fresco toilet facilities compiled by our very own Retronaturalist72. :LolLolLolLol:
-
How about a follow up second edition after Mk with pictures of the racing, show and shine, drunken lunacy etc?
I'd buy both!
-
What about a downloadable PDF version for those that can't be arsed waiting for the post man. Plus if there was a follow up version it would be easier to distribute digitally. Any donations from the digital version wouldn't have the overheads associated with the print version. The print version is a great idea. I'd like one myself.
Let me know if you need any help getting it into PDF or if you want any paper robbing donating from work :daumenhoch:
-
Great idea Clint :4_17_5:
-
Personally I'd like to keep it old school and have a real "paper copy" to keep :coolsmiley:
-
How about a readers wives and girlfriends section to keep Dan happy! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Probably stick with the oldschool paper format and scan the finished zine so those who want a digital copy can have one.
Like the idea of a follow up zine but i suspect this could take a fair bit of effort as it is without doing a second edition. Lets see how things go :daumenhoch:
Got a couple of worthy entries in already but this cant happen without you lot so dont be shy send me your contributions
-
How about putting this year's BOTM winners in there ?
-
How about putting this year's BOTM winners in there ?
Good idea in theory but there'll still be 5 mths worth of botm winners still not decided. ???
If this becomes a regular thing maybe the July -July botm winners could be in there. :daumenhoch:
-
Maybe do a follow up one with all the MK winning bikes and their owners?
Also all the tales of what happened over the weekend
-
How about some photos from some of this year's rides both North and South ( London, Chester, Cleethorpes ) ?
How about a "me and my bikes" section ... Choosing a couple of people to show off their collection and talk about it?
There's plenty of Radsters with great collections .. Jono, Nick Swan, Dan etc and stories to tell :daumenhoch:
-
Great idea.
I suggest a section on How to safely secure Gazebos on the helipad.
::)
-
Some great ideas already gents :daumenhoch:
-
:coolsmiley:
I dont see why not if you can cover the postage :daumenhoch:

Was thinking we could interview Phil Sawzall but i see its already been done, what about Superbike Dan, Tim March, Brian Curtis or Bernie and katie Vincent?

Brian :daumenhoch:

You think he would be up for it Griff?
Could be fun to have a little oldschool style shop advert with a price list for JT's stall if he is doing one and is up for it :)
-
how about ... "what we can burn at M.K." :daumenhoch:

No idea, I just typed Brian as that's one interview I'd like to read - he must have loads of stories to tell
-
How about a readers wives and girlfriends section to keep Dan happy! :LolLolLolLol:
I'd buy that for a dollar. Am sure Mrs DTTDB would be up for it
-
I'd gladly do a feature on how to finish dead last in the MK old school racing. Top tips include: Never refuse a free drink at the dog & duck, and stagger to bed at something past 3 :crazy2:
-
I'd like to see an agony uncle column called 'Dear Dordy'
-
:4_17_5:
-
Gonna have to put together a little team methinks, i know asking for individual contributions is going to be a disaster ( it took long enough just to get a few decent pics for the Top Trumps set )
What would be good would be for 4 or 5 lads who are interested in helping joining the editorial team and looking after 3 or 4 articles each. Experience would be great if anyone has contibuted to uni rags or owt like that in the past but happy to take anyone on who can spare a bit of time.
Please either put your name forward here or Pm me
Anyone else wanting to send me pics, articles, anything relevant please pm me with your thoughts and either email or post your stuff :daumenhoch:
-
I'd be up for being involved :daumenhoch:
-
Nice one Ed :4_17_5:
Griff suggested you and Jamyz may be able to help but i was thinking you mods do enough around MK with adding more to the workload.
appreciate the effort, welcome aboard :D

Don't be fooled Clint... Ed did nowt last year but play on the quarter pipe. I seen him. :P
-
Come on gents if I don't get a few hands up soon I going to start pm'ing probable suspects >:D
-
Tenty toony and dear Dordy...... :LolLolLolLol: Griff :daumenhoch:
Tales of MK past and seeing as the helipad is no more, tales of "I remember when this was all concrere"...... I'll start with the forming of the 3am club with photos of me falling off the chair slowly clutching a bottle of Jack :2funny: or Steve Animal being carried into the back of his van..... or Jonnygoose raving with the Burner lads.... or N2Cus and CrazyCraigs silver van of death.... :2funny:
Some brilliant ideas so far lads - I would volunteer to help but am notoriously unreliable with deadlines and seeing as I was born in Birmingham and live in Yorkshire, English is probably my second language >:D
-
Spen if you could write a "tales from the helipad" story and send it to me that would be ace :4_17_5:
-
Hate to say it gents but this is looking like a non starter? It's too much work for Ed and myself to do alone and I don't want to fook Brian Curtis about with an interview that will never see the light of day :-\
-
It can often be like this Clint, take the T shirts we do every year......we do a design (often picked by members) then when it comes to orders we end up selling about 15 of them.
Stick in there mate as I'm sure people will step forward
:daumenhoch:
-
hopeful bump :-\
-
I'll try and get some bits done this week x
-
:-*
-
-
I'll do what I can clint, if you give me page sizes, I can put some stuff for comedic value together
-
Cheers squire, I knew this was going to be a slow burner but it's April soon and MK will be around the corner before we know it :D
At the moment the thinking is an A5 mag made from folded sheets of A4 :daumenhoch:
-
Ok so here we are in June. Been thinking about this zine thing since I got back from Japan. It's now or never folks as this would take a while to compile. I know it seems quiet on here at the mo but of we want a zine at MK it's time for you radsters to stand up and be counted :)
If you HONESTLY think you can offer something, be it pics, drawings, stories or anything and want to contribute please shout out here 8)
-
Yup as you were. Nowt to see here
-
Pm'd you :daumenhoch:
-
Sounds a cracking idea. :daumenhoch:
