Title: Bent seat post
Post by: CustardLips on April 11, 2015, 09:34 AM: Got a slightly bent seat post and wondering if it can be straightened without fookin the chrome up ? It's not show chrome but tidy enough for my liking so don't wanna be fookin about stripping it and re-chroming it and all that carry on. :-\

Post by: Bigfrawg on April 13, 2015, 04:58 PM: Sorry mate got distracted , I got a piece of wood , drilled a hole same size as post and then clamped it in a vice and then protected post with a cloth and slid a larger diameter pipe over the top and carefully bent it back .

Good idea for a straight seat post... think it may be a bit tricky with this one tho. :-\

Post by: Jaymz on April 13, 2015, 08:26 PM: I did this below by machining a metal bar 0.5mm smaller than the internal diameter of the post and doming the end and driving it down inside, post weighed a touch more after! But it was steel ruler straight and was never going to bend again

Don't think I'd get one in Dan... think the bends too close to the top. Might just fit it and see how it looks. If it's noticeable I'll probably go with the rubber mallet/sandbag approach. :-\

Post by: Bigfrawg on April 15, 2015, 07:03 AM: I would be surprised if you could get a plumbers spring up there , tried it with one of mine . Maybe try a sparks conduit spring or sand load it then give it the hammer treatment .
Failing that just buy a new one ya tight fooker :D
