Im thinking of running my vitus with just a front brake but a quick look through the race section suggests this a bit of a taboo. :LolLolLolLol:
Thoughts ???

Riding at speed then a sudden need to stop will surely result the rider getting some serious air for all the wrong reasons. :crazy2:
Rear brakes only for race bikes imo. :daumenhoch:

;D That was my vision aswell but then riding motorbikes using the front brake is the norm (albeit with alot more weight)

I guess for old school dust tracks it was seen as a no no due to them causing the front to wipe out in corners?
on new tarmac tracks this might not be such an issue.
with motobikes you have the suspension which help to dampen the downward force? front brakes are better for scrubbing off speed in a straight line but i'd not use mine in corners

just cut the spindle down with a 12" cutting disc and hammer it onto the rear, fix with no more nails, job done

Front and back is ok, some of the best riders like Ruffell and Schofield ran two brakes. :daumenhoch:
As kids we just followed the Yanks like lemmings, they tended to just use a rear :crazy2:
Although Harry Leary two as well :daumenhoch:

if that's the case, then just mount it under the seat stays, isn't that the get out clause

I think there was , his name escapes me ......... unfortunately he ended up in A&E with multiple injuries and never raced again :crazy2:
Joking aside mate ...... your bike , you do what you want :daumenhoch: ....... as long as you don't start adding freestyle platforms , axle pegs and forks stands to that lovely Vitus ;)

To be honest Joff its just something that popped into my head this morning whilst working out what bits I needed to complete the build. I really like the idea of a narrative build reflecting the whims we all had over parts as kids. The frameset arrived to me with a front brake and no rear and I thought it would do it justice to keep that format. It was never going to be era correct or a show winner so I might just go for it anyway, freestyle brake and all ;D

A bike with only a front wouldn't pass scrutineering at a race meeting.
I used to run front and rear brakes at certain tracks, it all depended on the track really.
