Ok Im just about to get my vertigo. However my misses thinks 35 is too old to be messing around on a bmx. She won't stop me riding again but I have not done any bmx since I was 18...... Er 18 tears ago almost. Just wanted to know I'm not the only guy on here that wants to ride that's over 35, and if I'm not where do you guys ride ? I live in Romford so I have rom a 5 min drive away
-
Haha she's actually right but who cares most on here are 40ish so don't worry about, it's an acquired taste most "normal " people think it's nuts to mess with kids bikes and most on here find it "normal" lol
-
too old? Nonsense
Actually you're a bit young to be on here
Young man :teef:
-
Used to ride Rom some 25 or so years ago, now 41 and started riding again. Her indoors can't work it out. Wouldn't mind revisiting the old place.
-
Well if anyone fancy a ride at rom let me know I will join in for sure. Im not going to be pulling out no backflips or flairs though 😃
-
wtf do women know :D ::) :knuppel2:
-
I'm 44 today and still riding and collecting don't let age put you off 😘
-
Start small, seen a few people over the years jump on a bike thinking they can take off where they left off and hurt themselves. It's not like riding a bike...erm, well it is.
-
:LolLolLolLol:
you're just a youngster danny, some of us on here are in or just about to hit our 50s....i'm 50 this year :)
-
I'm 42.5, I'm not that far from you in Chigwell, Not ridden rOm for awhile.
I normally end up driving 2 hours to Boardroom in Leicester, TRM1 in Melton Mowbray or Creation in Birmingham.
LMK if you have a trip to rOm and I'll try and make it.
-
I'm 44 and this was me last Thursday

35, Spring chicken. My dad rides and he's 66, Billy at our club is in his 60s and there are plenty of others in their lates 40s/50s riding, racing, freestyling.

I in Upminster, not ridden BMX since '86 (when I was at Rom every Sunday). For me, its not about age (I'm 46), but size! I've grown to 6ft / 15 stone and not sure if any of my old school bikes would cope!
I popped into Rom a few Fridays ago after dropping off some stuff to SBD - it was closed and all the new wooden ramps spoilt the veiw a little, but if you guys do tie up lmk as I'd duct off one of the bikes, swap the panaracers for some kenda and give it a go!

... I did my first ever aerial just before I turned 40. You can teach an old dog
new old tricks

I'm getting fired up.....

Unless mother nature changes the force of Gravity, I'll be sticking to the ground :LolLolLolLol:
-
Gave up in '88
Skated until '08
Got back into it to build and ride the bikes I built
Took several years to realise that new school bikes are so much better and safer to ride.
Ridden new school for street and parks for about 3 years now ... I'm 44 this year.
I ride every Wednesday and Saturday nights ... and as many Friday mornings as I can.
I live to learn new things ... but you have to take it at whatever pace you feel comfortable. If I walk away from a session ( result! ) having done one new thing ( result! ) then I'm buzzing.
The main reason I know I'm not stopping this time is that I have some great people to ride with :smitten:
Plus it beats the gym or getting lycra'd up on some road bike ... or doing fook all.
-
Do it Danny!!! As others have already said, you're younger than many on here, me included! :daumenhoch:

I was expecting him to be kissing the dirt when the gate dropped ;D

It's true, the tracks are super smooth so not much pedalling to be done these days :-\ I use to love the super high and really small berms too.
-
I wish I started riding again when I was 35, 45 now and love riding but it does take its toll on your body.I have just torn my calf muscle doing a cherry picker and tore my PCL ligament roller skating so both legs fooked but skating tomorrow and going to Asylum lockin in a couple of weeks time
-
Great stuff Paul. Not the torn calf muscle or the PCL ligament, obviously :LolLolLolLol:
-
Ok that's it then the bike will be rideable by next week anyone fancy meeting at rom sometime then. Would be good to get a few people together if possible if your up for it say Sunday the 24th would that be any good for you all ?

48 in July this year, still riding, faster than a zimmer frame (just) ;D
-
42, picked it back up in 2008 after a 20 plus year hiatus.
Still as crap as I was as a nipper, but love it even more
-
Jeezus, at 35 you're just a nipper :LolLolLolLol:
Enjoy riding again but take it easy until you get into it as you can still do tricks, but you just need to remember.
Alao it really hurts whwn you fall off
-
What you have to do is get your other half interested and involved in BMX. Mrs Stidds used to think we are all nuts but now she rides with me, is happy when I buy a new frame/bike, has only missed 2 MK's in 10 years and even let me bring a BMX to our wedding day.
-
Stidds your the man how the fook did you manage to pull that one off ?
-
Mrs S G loves it.
She likes BMX too.
She now races properly :LolLolLolLol:
-
Wish i was 35. :-\
