Title: Seat post depth
Post by: Howser on June 01, 2015, 07:26 PM
Hi - I've got a seat post problem and hoping for some advice on it please.

I'm struggling to get a seat post in more than 3.5 inches and its still 0.5 inches until I get to the max height line -  will it be ok to ride as most of it is in or will it be a problem? I don't want to crack the seat post.  😟

I'm going to be using it on the London ride this Saturday so don't want any malfunctions !

What do you think guys?

Many thanks 👍

Is there an old seat post stuck in there?
Or sometimes where the tubes are welded there can be a raised bit inside the tube, Carefully use a file if this is the case.
If you have already fitted the BB try and do the filing with the seat tube angled down so no filings get in the BB, Hoover it afterwards :)

Cheers guys.  I don't think there's a stuck post in there as far as I can see/feel.

It's a db silver streak John - probably be doing a fair bit of sitting down riding on sat - especially after a few pub stops 😄.
