Title: Get a grip! sage types needed
Post by: oldschoolace on July 18, 2015, 02:53 PM
Alreet lads. I was always under the impression my first proper bmx was a mag burner with yellow skyways. I have always queried it though as my bike had these grips with the distinctive octagon ends, which i never see fitted to burners.

Can anyone confirm these came on burners or if not suggest what they may have came stock on?

Those were never fitted to a burner. Viscount foam grips on a mkl tange on a mkll and a couple of the higher end burners had ourys I think

Cheers Jaymz that was my understanding. That's left me with a real headscratcher then. My bike deffo had yellow skyways and was blue, our kid got a red one exactly the same and I'm 98% sure they were burners. My old dear reckons the name is familiar so these grips are an oddity. I distinctly remember the conbra shape and octagon ends as I hated the fact the whitewash used to rub off on them under the stairs where we stored them

An Iron horse dirt burner came with those grips and had yellow 'matchstick' mags, they came in a plethora of colour combos

Yeah I looked at iron horses and a couple of others but mine deffo had skyways. Wondering if one of the grips got damaged in transit or while in the shop and the shop owner put some new ones on?

If anyone remembers it was on the top floor of the old hat works in Stockport. Bloke up there had alsorts of bikes in a more warehouse setting than a trad shop.
