Title: Hi everyone! What are the chances of finding my old bike on here??
Post by: Old School on August 31, 2015, 11:45 AM
Happy wet bank holiday everybody!
Newbie to the site, but not BMX, I used to own a Silver Streak 30 years ago which was pimped to the max! Have attached a photo of me on it before the pimpage commenced!
The spec that I can remember was something like this:

Silver Streak frame, forks & crankset - chrome
VDC Monkey bars - chrome
MX1000 Dia Compe calipers - white
Dia Compe brake levers - white
Green and silver reflective brake cables
White Skyway Tuff II's
White Skyway brake pads
Whitewall tyres
Skyway freestyle platform
Trick pegs front and rear
Lightweight saddle with moulded/integrated seat post - can't remember make or model - sound familiar?
Bear trap pedals
White Mushroom grips - Oakley?

I sold this to someone in Maidenhead, Berks, circa 1990, DOES ANYONE OWN OR RECOGNISE THIS BIKE AND SPEC?
I actually saw it a few years after selling it, chained up at Maidenhead train station, but the owner wasn't there :-(

Anyhoo, my 7 and 8 year old son and daughter are getting into BMX's and it's really made me miss my old bike!
I know the chances of finding it are about a squillion to one, but if you don't ask you'll never know, right?
So, just to double check: DOES ANYONE OWN OR RECOGNISE THIS BIKE AND SPEC!?

Have also just posted a help wanted thread in the Tech section as I'm about to undertake my first build in 30 ish years to recreate a similar looking version, so any help any of you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys, I hope this is the place, it definitely seems like it! :-)

Think you've got two chances mate.... zero and nil.  :-\

Just find another one... It'll be easier.  :daumenhoch:

Oh and  :welcome to Rad.  ;)

Yeah, I thought you'd say that!
I'm going to start with the Venom build first, and then, depending on monies, progress to the Silver Streak if at all possible…
But it was worth a go trying to find my ol' bad boy!
Thanks for your help and thanks for the welcome :-)

Good luck finding a rear thunderbolt cable now! Most will have been snapped up by the haro collectors

Welcome to Rad  :daumenhoch:
Still in Maidenhead now? Not too far away...

It would appear I'll be going for normal cables then!
And my chances of VDC Monkey Bars?

Not Maidenhead anymore, Pewsey in Wilts now.

Are you near Maidenhead?  I used to use the High Wycombe and Sonning BMX tracks quite a bit  :daumenhoch:

In that case you definitely might have seen my old bike without realising it! I did find my Mitsubishi Evo 6 in 8 years after selling it, so stranger things have happened!

I can confirm I definitely haven't seen it, despite having lived in both Maidenhead and Wycombe :teef:

I loved that track but I was like 13!! Not very good I take it? High Wycombe was much better as I recall?
