Title: Hello from Chesterfield
Post by: Twenty inches of freedom on October 20, 2015, 11:31 PM
Good evening all!
Thought it'd be polite to introduce myself,
My names jay I'm in the Chesterfield area (Grassmoor). From the midlands originally but been all over. Always had a bmx for the past 26 years but I guess my main time in bmx was mid-school. Hoping to meet some people near by and get advice from the forum :-)

My bmx is made up of a sputnic satellite frame (very new school to me at the time of ownership), s&m pitch forks, Chris Bennett volume bars and profile cranks (bought new 13 years ago). The rest is made up of relatively new school stuff that's been replacing old stuff over the past few years in an attempt to save some weight but my bikes still heavy compared to newer bikes. I've got a chrome WAL riot bmx frame and forks that have been in my loft for 10 years and I have a fly bikes/suelo flatland frame that I hope to build up soon.  The site looks great by the way :-)
Ps the pic is 2002 opposite table at rugeley skatepark, dmc forks and McNeil Ruben frame, would love those forks again.

Welcome mate. Dragged up in Birmingham myself but lived in Sheffield since 1989 and still here in Beauchief just up the road from you :coolsmiley:

There's a bunch of us who still ride and we meet at Flo in Nottz mainly. We also ride Asylum in Mansfield, Terminal One in Melton and The Boardroom in Leicester with further outings north to Beast Rampz in Manchester and beyond when they happen. If you keep an eye out on the members events section the meets are posted up there under the Usual Suspects or the Miserable Old Bastards events, so get yourself along. All private hires in the evenings and all levels of rider are welcome - we have everyone from wobblers to astronauts there :daumenhoch:

I do like Massive Attack, but no, it's from Herman Kelly's song of the same title

Brilliant, I've not seen the teardrop video for many years. I went through them all and they're pretty much my fav tracks too.
Thanks again for the welcomes, very friendly site!
I'm a member of a few forums (aircooled rd club as I'm restoring a Yamaha rd125dx and also myoldmower or MOM as I'm restoring a 1920's mower) but I think I'll feel a bit closer to my age group here :) still so much to look at

Here you go Jay, start on the "events" section of the forum page (which is the little "forum" tab along the top)

The next meet is this Saturday at Flo in Nottingham :daumenhoch:

http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,184614.0.html

Then Ed's birthday ride at the Boardroom in Leicester :coolsmiley:

http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,184650.0.html

Here's the page on here with a list of members events - don't worry about the bumming references, you'll get used to it and Ed won't bother you once he's had you in the bogs for a grope as he gets bored easily :2funny:

http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/board,12.0.html

There is also the Christmas do on the 5th Dec at Flo in Nottz, but that is confusingly under the official events section like the best weekend of the year we all have at MK (Milton Keynes)

http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/board,34.0.html

Finally there is the members events photos section which don't be put off by the astronauts, there are plenty of us just happy to roll about and have a wobble, maybe try something new every now and then :daumenhoch:

Thanks spen I will check it all out! I've been having a good look around this morning and a lot of the humour has made me laugh out loud, reminds me so much of the banter riders gave each other back in the day. Love it.
I was also wondering what M.K was but now I know.
I'm comfy around all riders and  looking forward to coming to an event,  not sure if this Saturday is too soon but will look at train times and plans etc.  notts is pretty close to me
