I bought this Superpose over the weekend from a guy just 20 miles up the road from me. Its been in his mothers outhouse for 30 years. As you can see its in need of allot of work. One question I have is have any of you had similar damage on any builds you've done in the past ? If so how successful were you and what method did you use. If i have to i will get if powder coated but id like to at least try to keep it chrome if possible.
Any advise would be appreciated≥

I'd ask a simple question - are you going to show it or ride it?
If you're going to show it then you need to send it away to Phil or Steve but the dent is probably going to be filled rather than repaired, so chrome (or nickel) is out the equation and you're into paited finishes. If you want it repaired it will need a new rear stay and I don't know if either of the two gents mentioned above (as highly skilled as they both are) can bend the radius needed behind the cigarette-box behind the BB to do it in one piece..... I could be wrong, but it's tight.
If you're going to ride it, then the dent isn't going to be detrimental to the way it rides or safety, and if you have a good read up on restoring chrome on here and want to put a bit of time into it, you will bring that up nice and still keep it with its original finish which is getting rarer these days.
I'm going to start the ball rolling by hoping you go for the second option and keep it's original finish. The dent is part of its history and I wouldn't worry about it :daumenhoch:

Leave it, give the bike a good clean up and see where you are at, there is more kudos on a ride out on a survivor like that than a resto imho.
There's a sticky above about using citric acid for rust removal.

I'd go the whole hog and get it filled & re-chromed, but do whatever you like as it's your bike. I'd say it was fine to ride like that though :daumenhoch:

I think if you want it re-chromed then you could have it de-chromed then apply heat to the dent and you could tap most of it out with something suitable to fit inside the stay. Then fill/refinish what's left before re-chroming. Or find someone that can if that's not your thing. Nice find though :)

I work in the motor trade and have seen a few dent repair guys get dents out of cars and wonder if one of them might be able to do something on some of these dents.
The metal might be too thick though.
If I remember I'll show the one we are using at the moment these pics.

Did you show the photo? Makes you wonder if it could be got out as its not a looptail and maybe get one of those rods in! :-\ :daumenhoch:
I work in the motor trade and have seen a few dent repair guys get dents out of cars and wonder if one of them might be able to do something on some of these dents.
The metal might be too thick though.

ive pushed similar dents out. pice of tool steel bar, same od as the id of the tube. pop it in the vice and angle grind it down the middle, or slightly over, then push it up the firts inch of the tube, abd drive it in with a hammer, if your steel is longer than your drops, or a cold chisel if its not. My advice is to use a longish length so youve got some purchace to get it out again, as the fit will need to be tight.
An hours job at most.
