As we all know, there's a hell of a lot of BMX knowledge within the members on this site.
Would it be helpful to have a 'sticky' of who to contact if you needed help with certain brands??
Obviously the well established members would already know the best people to ask but the newcomers probably wouldn't.
An alphabetical brand list with a Rad member's user name/names next to it.
(If there's gaps in the list, it might encourage people to research it and get on the list)
What do we think?

Thing is, if people contact these experts via PM it won't make the site look any busier?
Plus if they posted in tech/resto, the answer might just help someone else & save people having to answer the same questions over & over.
Maybe the tech resto section could be reorganised in some way...? E.g have a separate section for how tos vs build threads? Just a thought
I would recommend anyone with Smurf-related questions to contact you discreetly via pm though :teef:

This is very true and a detail I hadn't counted for :chin:
Is there a way that the site could be setup, that when peoples names are mentioned in a thead It sends them a message alert (similar to faceache) so they can come in and answer the query???
That way it will keep the site busy and keep drawing people back to answer the specialist questions, which in turn will keep this site a great source of information.

Great idea this. All I have done so far is start a Birmingham WHEELS register on here to act as a point of reference as the current format doesn't really cater for 'marque experts' as such. In other outlets I have added a load of info on BMXMuseum and also set up a (relatively limited access at this point) Birmingham WHEELS Fb page. For example I have around 130 previously unseen negatives and slides from the BW scrap books I have custody of off being developed as I type this... Who knows what they contain, but not sure where I can add that info on here for best reference material when they eventually come back to me..??
Will be interested to see what comes out of this 8)

I highly doubt it tbh, other than hosting the site on FB (nooo!)
I like the idea of 'brand ambassadors' though, would be good if we could find a way to make more on here of a lot of the expert knowledge and history. While FB is mostly full of idiots there are a handful of decent groups that appear to work well and are dishing up some decent content - it's just a shame that it then drops off your screen into oblivion after a few minutes as there's no structure to Facebook

have seen so many part lists for bikes that change, i honestly think that manufacturers would pop on whatever they could lay their hands on
lets face it this probably had something to do with cost too ( if they were offered a better deal by ukai for example then thats what they would use )
what is pretty consistent however is the parts/components making up the rest of the bike
i often found martinbike useful for reference for parts
maybe a new section for years for parts??
i know we have parts already but if you are building a bike from 85 for example its nice to know what was available etc
members could post a picture of the dated part
so a literally 1984 for example
and dated parts for that year only in that section etc
just a thought ???

What about making it a post your questions here thread where said members could keep an eye out for questions pointed in their direction regarding their specific brand/speciality. What harm could it do. ???
Even if most questions are sent by pm and it doesnt create any general on site traffic at least folk know who's who regarding what's what. :daumenhoch:
-
Think you have missed out me . Any weed questions I'm always here to help. :daumenhoch:

Like a 'Dear Deidre' thread, but for BMX? :daumenhoch:
'Dear Dordy' has a nice ring to it :teef:

I'd happily help where I can with Diamond Back :daumenhoch:

This is a great idea. Although true what Griff has said about the resulting traffic on the site. People would not post their Q's. Difficult one to find a way around. :-\
