...sand the side of the black rims, similar to shine siding but without the polish. :-\
I bought a set of wheels and they have been lightly used so am thinking about running the sander over the sides. :chin:

Never done or heard of it but I guess it would clean up the wheels. Up to you really
-
If you ran brakes the anodising would wear off through use anyway, I used to polish the rims up as it made the brakes a bit sharper, but it wasn't the norm I don't think.

did a few rims bit90's , here's some rims on an 2007 goose i did to tidy them up , looks better than the patchy brake rub i think , 500 then 600 grit then rubbed with 000 steel wool , you get a nice smooth dull finish , makes a good braking surface :daumenhoch: looks better with tan wall tires :daumenhoch:

Yes gusset did some deep side wall black rims with the braking surface ground, Ive got a front wheel still. I think it may have been a hukka.

Cheers for the replies, definitely food for thought :daumenhoch:

would have been done. i've always hated braked up black rims. you could also deanodize the back rim. Did it to a Primo Hula Hoop a while ago. Looks good, polished. Shiny back rim/Black front was a common combo, though generally chrome in back.
