Ok lads, I know nothing about these at all. Am liking how they look though, so..... what did they produce BITD, what are the differences between original 80's items and the recent iterations? I have seen 'T' and 'H' spoke profiles mentioned. I am after red ideally. I'm assuming red originals will be tough to source?
-
I had a look at them on planet bmx and it says the following:
"This re-issue features the classic "T" spoke design, same as the 80's! 7-spokes per wheel, with Skyway's precision SEALED bearing hubs. Threaded freehub style to accept any freewheel 16 tooth or higher."
So it looks like the new ones are the same cross section as the originals. Plus they do them in red!
Here is the page I was looking at:

There are many similarities, the main one being that new ones are just as shite as the 80's ones :daumenhoch:

I think they look pretty cool, well better than 24inch spoked rims anyway (not much if a Cruiser fan all round really if I'm honest). I've got one to build for next summer - literally just for cruising about on.... probably more the lanky wife than me, so thanks for the info so far :daumenhoch:
That pic of the chick on the Skyway Cruiser is what I have in my head! "wantit"

Nor was I until I rode the OM Flyer. No going back! Well, for now.

This ;D

I think 24 inch Skyways look really cool. Mike (Banachek) had a set of yellow on his freestyle quad cruiser. Looked amazing "wantit"

Ha ha! :4_17_5:
Skyways are great..... On other peoples bikes.

I can only guess you must be talking about the one and only very fookin' fantastic Eva Gabrielle photo on the BMX track..... yep, it's burned into my retinas as well :smitten: >:D
As for Tuffs this size, or indeed any, they're best kept for anything that doesn't plan to leave the ground I'm afraid :-\

Not much chance of me doing anything like this anymore I'm afraid....

...or this for that matter :-[

If and when I get a couple of cruiser's :'( one of them will have Skyway wheels :) I like them, but won't be jumping about on them. Just rolling around. :daumenhoch:
-
Same goes for me :daumenhoch:
Already have an original set of red 20inch Skyways ready to go, so now I'm after a 24inch set. So..... what are my chances of finding an original 80's set in red??

Love the look of classic 5-spoke 20" skyways, but the 24" ones with 7 long spokes always look like plastic horse cart wheels to me

and regarding the pic of said wheels in the air..............like Mat said, no one gets hurt in the air
