I did bang on about this on Facebook recently but thought it might be a nice story to share here too.
After a truly shitty 2015 the year ended on a real high when all round good blokes Derek Spicer and John Buultjens decided to cheer me up. Completely (and I do mean completely) out of the blue I was presented with this;

I had been looking to change my frame this year at some point when funds allowed and I had been looking at either a Haro Lineage or SDv2. I don't recall mentioning this to either man but this retro FST is basically a Lineage frame with a gusset and a paint job, so the geometry is spot on.
I had to wait a little while for some brake lugs and only just finished building it yesterday. It rides really well, I'm very happy.

So, Happy New Year everyone and I'll see you in a skatepark soon :daumenhoch:

very cool ride :daumenhoch:

That's awesome all round rob :daumenhoch:
-
Lovely frame for a lovely man, what a nice story :daumenhoch:
Nice one Del/John :4_17_5:
-
nice
fancy one of them :daumenhoch:
-
It's a completely modern frame just with a bit of retro styling so if that's your thing and you intend to ride it you can't go wrong mate.
-
Looks good Rob, and cool story :daumenhoch: what happened with the Condor, just fancied a change?
-
Great story , sounds like you have two top mates there :daumenhoch:
-
Nice one. :4_17_5:

Totally RAD :smitten:

I could never get my head around the dropouts on the Condor. I understand they wanted to pay homage to the original and all that, but those bloody great big dropouts were/are a mistake in my opinion. If mine weren't an anniversary one I would have taken the grinder to them.
It now hangs on the wall next to the Ramp Room 95.
Dropouts aside, yeah I fancied a change - I like what's going on at Haro these days and their geometry suits me.

I think they are just two thoroughly lovely blokes, neither of which would I have classed as good friends. Just goes to show, this community of ours remains a strong one. I have always tried to give a little back where I can and support stuff when I can and these lads seemingly felt it would be nice to reciprocate.
I'm still bowled over by the whole thing to be honest.

I totally agree with you on the dropouts, that's why my anniversary frame also hangs on the wall! I did get hold of a 3rd hand one, built it for a relative to borrow & when I got it back the dropouts were completely mangled, I couldn't even get the back wheel out......that one did get a chop with the grinder.

Yep. One of mine is tweaked and I could almost count the number of grinds I did on it.
I can't help thinking they'd sell more Condors in general if they had modern dropouts on them, there really is nothing else to criticise - it's an excellent frame.
-
Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke :daumenhoch:
-
I had the same prob with the condor which is why I sold it

I gave you a hand job at MK ... where's my 'thank you' thread?
( I say 'gave' ... you can be very intimidating )
-
Intimidating? As if....
I reckon you were more intimidated by being in the presence of greatness aka Chilly :)

I was enjoying the sexual tension between you two ... like a ghay Godzilla vs King Kong

I like that FST... Always great colour combos... I'm loving the Gen 1 in the background more though! 8)
Great story dude :slayer:

It's your old frame I was talking about above! When I got it back the dropouts were bent in towards the hub & also pinched together......

They are excellent frames apart from that :daumenhoch: Wouldn't take too much to scale down the backend & keep the looks of it I don't think.

Did you buy my one Shane? :r2d2:
LOL just read up and now I remember ... Billy Bunter sold it to me and then you bought it as everyone I rode with slagged it off LOL

That's right! I didn't want to mess up my chrome one so I got the painted one off you, lent it out & it came back thrashed......

Cool ride. 8)
