Title: Japanese Old School Find - Part 1 of 4!
Post by: Mikku on January 20, 2016, 12:02 PM: Ever since I moved to Japan (over 6 years ago now), I've been dreaming of finding a bike shop full of old school exotica, gathering dust in the back of the shop. Ideally there'd be a Laserlite or HLT but tbh, anything would do. This means that whenever I see an old bike shop, and I'm talking here about the independent, one-man bands, I always stop for a browse and sometimes strike up a conversation with the owner, who is usually an older guy who is somewhat bemused to find a foreigner in his shop talking about old school BMX in broken Japanese!

So with all this in mind, the other day I stumbled upon an old shop and then, as I got closer, spotted these old school stickers on the window:-

My heart started racing with thoughts of what I might find inside, so I slid open the old, wooden door and stepped in. Part 2 to follow once I've uploaded some more photos!! :daumenhoch:

Sadly there were no Kuwis, parts, stickers, massages or any other services available BUT the owner did rummage around in the storeroom for a few minutes before showing me his collection of something that I couldn't buy but which was nonetheless a real find! Am now on the way to the airport so part 2 will have to wait until next week! :daumenhoch:

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I opened them but was pleasantly surprised by the faded old photos inside! I had a quick look through them all and then asked him if I could take pictures of his pictures! He seemed bemused by the idea but agreed, so I spent the next 10 minutes or so struggling to get my damned iPhone camera to focus on the photos. The quality of my reproductions is therefore crap but hopefully they still give you a flavour of the find. I'm going to start a separate thread for each of the three albums to keep things simple!
