Any North West riders on here who used to ride the Waverton halfpipe in Ed Walley's farm?
I used to go on the weekends in '88ish and would love to see some pics if anyone has any?
Used to ride with mad jon Taylor and Erik Steele would turn up sometimes, also another lad who would try to do massive backflips all night off the jump ramp into a pile of hay.
I've been searching the internet, but no mention of it or any photos.... :(

heard he built it for his lads, but they had packed up by the time I was going there.
it's where crocky trail is now.

I used to ride at Chester skatepark BITD. I remember going from the park to a farm to ride ramps. It was out towards the Zoo

sounds like the same place then, was (about) a 10ft tall vert ramp and they added a mini spine ramp later on, all in the barn!
Used to have some good times there.
I rode chester skatepark a few times, but it was half demolished by then.
Found a couple of pictures of the skatepark on the net.

I rode to the skatepark in Chester once or twice in '85, probably with Brett in the group. We used to ride the 5 miles from Deeside along the river bank, which was not the nice flat Tarmac cycle way that it is now. The skatepark itself was w4nk, full of weeds and broken glass, but it was good to hang about and watch the braver riders.
I have actually learned a bit more about it recently. The group that used it called themselves 'The Inner City Truckers'. One of the skaters, a lad called Dave Mitchell's Dad designed it around 1980. This guys Dad had a friend on Chester City Council, and they'd approached him about the demand for a skatepark, so the Council allocated the land begging the football ground on Sealand Rd. Mr Mitchell went and designed the snake run and bowl, but the builders got their quote wrong, and ran out of money, but Chester Council refused to give them any more. People say that the park wasn't ever demolished, it just never got completed.
It eventually got filled in and bulldozed in 1990ish, when the football stadium got pulled down, to make way for the retail park.

I remember they had painted their names all around the lip of the main bowl with an arrow between them, only name I remember is 'herb'
When I was there it was as you described, but also with the outer walls pushed in and the main bowl nearly filled up with grass clippings...
Only things left to ride was the massive no-flat halfpipe and a bank.

I rode for Claude Crimes for years as a kid.
I loved riding the park and in the precinct that was at the back of WHSmiths

nice one bretty, they are the only two photos I have ever found too!
shame there isn't any of Waverton though.

Correct, all Marble with plants in the middle I think. A long time ago now.
The park was there in the late 70s but I went from about 83. Used to have to rebuild the bowl every Friday night so we could ride it at the weekend :)

yeah, the planter in the middle was a big hexagonal marble thing too.
still got a dent in the chainstay on my performer from grinding on it when I knocked a big chunk of marble out...

I see in the text there is mention of the Waverton ramp, is there any pictures of it?
what magazine and issue are these pictures from please?

Cool indeed! Remember reading this now that I've seen it again Rob so probably Rad but could easily be wrong. Bloody hell that half-pipe was dangerous!
