Hi.
Just assembling parts at the moment and doing a spot of painting. I was going to get some parts powdered but I only needed the forks and hubs doing, so thought I would try some rustoleum for a change :)
Landing gear copies bought for £20 sanded ready for paint.

Frame for £170 but has two rewelds and chewed dropouts. Green rim £80, white rim £60 which will be dyed green and pad set £30 :)

I'll be leaving the frame chrome and I want to get del to do me some green ripper decals and some blue landing gear decals. I have a few other bits and just need to order some blue powdered spokes from radsport erdman on eBay, some pedals and I think I have everything else. Next part is to dye the White rim :daumenhoch: cheers, Jonathan :)

Nice start Bud .. Sometimes I wish I could do a budget build :-[ >:( ::)
It's gonna look great :daumenhoch:
-
Nice one Jonathan :daumenhoch:
What year is THE ripper ?
-
Thanks fellas. I'm no expert, but it was sold to me as an 83 ripper. I checked on bmxmuseum but could only find one thread that said pre 84 rippers were loop tail and 85 onwards had built in seat clamps.
I need to get some polishing gear as well :)

Hi. Here are some more pics of the frame, which gives a clearer picture of its condition :) it's been polished so much most of the welds are now smooth with no ridges and I'm not sure what the score is with the rear brake ridge :-\

I was thinking of trying out this kit on eBay as the frame is nice and shiny in parts it's just the seat tube, head tube and both sides of the down tube that are hazy.

I believe you start with the brown compound then finish with the blue and then use the lime crystals to remove any residue. I'll keep you posted :daumenhoch:
I'm looking for bars at the moment but want them light blue and so far I've seen some haro freestyle re issues or a flying wedge set of bars, but nothing suibtable for this frameset. Seen some nice tyres but they are all in the £100 to £150 range
-
Real shame about those welds there really are some dumb fooks about....
-
J..
get this kit bud..

The mops are great with three stages of mops in above kit..

-
Cheers ady. I'll go for the kit you listed and see how it goes. Are the mops nice and firm? I got one set and the mops were dead floppy and didn't really work :-[
-
Yes j..
All firm just the g mop is not as firm which is the final polishing mop..
The faster it spins the firmer the g mop gets..
Get mothers for that extra bling explosion
-
Thanks for that ady. I'll get it ordered and update with pics :daumenhoch:
-
Eeeek those welds are screwed. The brake bridge has probably been welded (prone to snapping) and drilled out poorly.
-
Just been doing some polishing and putting a few pieces together. I've ordered some spokes, decals and will be getting some green hubs, just need to find some bars and a seat and then I'm sorted :daumenhoch:

Not really a fan of rattle canned parts, seems a bit of a cop out, but I only did the stem, forks and crank, everything else is factory finished og. Thanks for looking fellas :)

Any updates fistblump
