Title: Dyeing a'me grips ....... can't be done ?? ...... Think again !
Post by: NORTY40 on April 07, 2016, 09:38 PM
After numerous attempts using different methods , RIT , RIT with more salt added etc i had given up on dyeing my set of a'me dual grips  ::) :(  Tbh i never really thought i would have much joy as the majority of threads all came to the same conclusion that the old a'me's just won't dye .

That's until now and if you know a man who can .......

Before :

Interesting! Reckon you could dye tyres with it  ???

Funny you ask that, i was just thinking about other things which historically have been impossible to dye. Tyres would be a really challenge, would also dye the sidewalls if it did work  ???

Plenty of Primo 'The Wall' tyres on ebay (solid colour) in shite colours, now if they could be dyed black.........

wouldn't tyre wear be a problem or does the dye penetrate deep?

have you cut a grip open to see?

As far as I know it does penetrate Nick, at least to some degree. Don't think Joff would be best pleased with me if I took a Stanley to his grips  :LolLolLolLol:

This would be interesting to see, as Tri's and Rounds won't dye using the traditional RIT/Dylon method. Same for Oakley B2's
