Hi. I got this for £40, it's oval tubing, quite a nice light frame, bit of rust but not bothered about that. I have no idea what it is, do you have any ideas?
Thanks
Matt :daumenhoch:

Asco?
-
That did occur to me that Ian. I thought it might be either that, or Tange or Peugeot? Just not sure...
-
Checked the Museum, cannot see anything in ASCO that resembles it?
-
looks like a akisu made frame but normally labelled up with whatever shop wanted to sell it as but they made loads of different shape styles .
did you get my message on fb about redline
-
Is it proper oval or a flat sided oval matt

do you mean teardrop or oval? :chin:

Not sure if this is a lead or not! :-\ There was a company which supplied sports equipment in the 80s called Petworth House. :) Maybe it was a stickered up frame and forks? I'm going to have a google to see if I can find anything. :daumenhoch:

or floval!

I had this on my watchlist Matt, thought initially it was Akisu but the rear drops threw me.
A google search for Petworth BMX etc brought up nowt :-\

Stratton had rear Dropouts like that with the little kick out at the bottom. But neither of the two models I'm aware of had the three whole gusset.
-
According to a few people on facebook, it's "The Fox", MT the Fox. The frame is practically identical in every way, the gusset, the drop outs etc.. only the forks are different. Here's some pics.

Your rear dropouts are the wrong shape Matt, here's a clearer pic

I see the brake bridge is identical, the gusset, but you're right, there's one part that isn't quite the same is the rise of the rear dropouts, so so close though to an MT Fox. Must be an akisu made frame though.

Try researching.
Sekai
Merida
Falcon
Puch super invader
Venture
Ultracat
Pro cat
Norco
All of these above have used the three hole gusset
-
Oh and Lungi. I had a set of forks like yours stamped lungi on the steerer.
-
Could be a Jen Ming frame, they were bit like Akisu in that they made frames that were stickered up as allsorts. They certainly used that gusset amongst others.
-
Thanks for the info lads :)

The Down Tube would be round and there would be a brace between the Chain Stays if it was made by MT Racing :coolsmiley:

As said above, Petworth House was a discount mail order company back in the 80's and like Tensor in Darlington sold rebadged bikes so it will be one of the cheaper bought in frames :daumenhoch:
