Title: 1984 Pk Ripper build
Post by: rooski on June 12, 2016, 02:01 PM
As some of you may recall I bought 4 bikes recently of The Jackal.

I have completed rebuilding one, now i'm working on the Ripper.

When I got the bike it was already a fine looking thing, so only a few changes will be made, keep looking back I will add more pics etc over the coming weeks..........

Nice that, is it original finish ? Looks pretty close to the SE Rippin Red

Think the frame has been colour matched to the forks, forks have not been refinished as I understand.

Are the LG decals raised at the edges ?
Title: Re: 1984 Pk Ripper build
Post by: rooski on June 12, 2016, 11:13 PM
Do you mean like JMC decals?

Not sure what they're like, OG LG decals had raised edges rather than smooth all over. If not it doesn't mean the paint is not original.

Ah, comprende, no, just flat, no raised edges.

Very nice Andy  :daumenhoch:

Are you going for a colour change with the parts?

Thanks Lee, no, not gonna change the colour scheme, will look very much the same.

Few swapouts, no front brake, adding pads, numberplate etc.

Staying.........

Troxel mx650 seat combo, this has obvious connections to Se Racing, Troxel made ripper seat posts and these along with SE branded MX650'S etc. I considered a Uni hammerhead that I have, but this seemed more fitting.

Redline single pinch 185 with Redline 42 t chainwheel, may swap chainwheel for another Redline, 42t is a lickle bit on the small side.

Ukai Speedlines with SR semi sealed hi flange hubs(dated 83), nice wheelset, not had any SR hubs before either. Got the back one as well...........

Hutch beartraps (brown bearing) these have repoop cages, will swap back the og ones, not got these on any other bike, nice.

DC hinged clamp, never had one of these before, lovely looking thing.

DC cable w/dc inner and ferrule, dated 84,ideal.

Swaps!

Stem, bike had a nice Hutch freestyle stem fitted, race bikes need a race stem so I opted for this early square corner DK xl stem, og finish and hardware.

(http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp160/andyrooski/IMAG1531_zpsdqbir1so.jpg) (http://s407.photobucket.com/user/andyrooski/media/IMAG1531_zpsdqbir1so.jpg.html)

Bars, gt freestyle bars were fitted, nice bars with a good shape, but not race so I chose these Vector VC8 bars, won these at MK, thanks to all involved! Powerwings would be the best choice, however I sold my nos pair to rich clean...............

(http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp160/andyrooski/IMAG1534_zpshtyrqynh.jpg) (http://s407.photobucket.com/user/andyrooski/media/IMAG1534_zpshtyrqynh.jpg.html)

Grips, ame tris were on the bike, but these were non bubble,I really like tris, they are one of the best in my opinion, anyway I had some Oakley 2s from MK, ideal, and only cost a fiver.

(http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp160/andyrooski/IMAG1535_zpst1zu04fg.jpg) (http://s407.photobucket.com/user/andyrooski/media/IMAG1535_zpst1zu04fg.jpg.html)

Brakes, pre bends and 1020s were swapped out for a tech3 and mx1000, bit later kit, thought 1020s etc would be a bit early for an 84 bike. Just need to rivet the QR back on.
