I was told the bikes were borrowed from a local bike shop n returned afterwards if so why would spielbergs assistant have it or knowledge of its authenticity but the info I was told could be bollocks

Not just a local bike shop but Everything Bicycles owned by Howie Cohen.Check your old BMXA's & drool over the parts & bikes He sold & distributed. He was responsible for bringing most asian made bikes & parts into bmx.He built, customised & supplied the Kuwies for ET & scored the worldwide deal w/marketing & supplying  ET's  w/ the studios being the main distributer & supplier of Kuwies in the US.He was a legend in the bike business & also responsible for bringing in a lot of the Japanese anno parts we all love to build with.If it is legit it must've come from Howie's collection. He sadly past away a few years back & most if not all of his collection was auctioned off.

Got it to work now.  :) $22500 is this really one of the bikes used in the film?  :-\ Not doubting the sale but is there any proof which comes with it?  :-\ Would love this piece of history if its the real deal.  8) :daumenhoch:

Problem is provenance dissipates with time n I wouldn't wanna be stuck with a 25 grand bike n loads of doubters in the future, not that I'd pay that kind of money

I agree w/Jono & there's no mention of where it came from to confirm it's real other than apparently some assistant of Spielberg who i doubt would know a real one from a repro one.Howie had an auction site of his own that he sold a lot of the ET film stuff along w/most of his collection that came w/letters of authenticity. There's no mention of that either.

Anybody could build one of these... add a sprinkle of bullshit about it's authenticity and where it came from. Then all it takes is some clown with deep pockets feeling all nostalgic about his youth then...  explosion  24 grand profit.  :daumenhoch:
