Does anyone know what the score is with vert-ego. Says won't post to uk on their eBay site.

look on the website and order through that if you really want to pay through the nose for parts.

Well done, you have just learned a valuable lesson. Shop around and you'll always find a cheaper price than Vertego

Has grips and bars and vw parts that post to uk but for some reason not hubs and other stuff. Sounds like he was at MK selling stuff at good prices according to some people.

Hubs were £50 NOS, I'm desperate to get my build finished and despite wanted ads all over the place couldn't find any. As I said a fellow radster has come to the rescue so all good now.

He was selling pedals for £60, that JTSmooth was selling for £10 or £15, although John had sold all of his, that's probably why.

Who on  :radbmxsmilie: actually bought off him over the weekend?

My issue with him is that he's been invited to attend the biggest BMX event in the UK, with undoubtedly his biggest group of customers, but he's still pricing his stuff as though he's going to incur eBay seller and PayPal fees, and he's forgetting that anyone that buys off him at MK is taking the stuff with them, but he still feels the need to add postage costs too.

I did dan, and it was an actual bargain. £20 for a NOS DC brake in blue, with pads and stays.

Sounds like a decimal place got put in the wrong spot by error then. That's why he cranked all the other prices up for that fook up

I did.

I practically stole what I bought though. That's two years running now that's happened.

I have no problems in offering less than he's asking. What I bought he grumbled about, I told him to keep it then and enjoy taking it home with him.
He gave in to that.  :)

Admittedly I'm not keen on the guy at all and I do think he overprices stuff but it is his and he can do what he wants and ask what he wants for it. I wasn't forced to buy it.

I'm sorry but I think he is a Cnut

Historically arrogant in emails, thinks he's On a par with Haney - he's not

Sold me a dyed black kashimax aero about 10 years ago, when I moaned he sent me another one

Luckily I will never need to buy another thing off him, he's not in it for the love of BMX
Shrewd businessman he may be , but still don't like him

The fact that he sells copy Pro Neck stems on Ebay.Com as actual NOS items, is the one and only reason I would never buy from him. He will not sell them in the UK, only in the US.

The bloke is a thief, and as said by Danny, not in it for the love of BMX, just how rich he can get off people who are  :loser:

JT's stand for a quid  ;) :daumenhoch:  They were for skinnies but 30 year old Panaracer .

He also had some 20 x 1.75 for a quid but not Panaracer .

Saw a couple of patches i fancied but he wanted £15 each for them and they werent exactly rare ones  :(

I have it on VERY good knowledge that he has piles of snide gear ,he's holding back at the mo. Check the NOS 44t bubbles he was selling , look closely where they are pressed out, all have vertical lines ( where they've been pressed) , his are smooth , as they've been laser cut! He has piles of them.
I feel sorry for the people buying from him. Never dealt with him myself and never would, enough decent people elsewhere to go to IMO

Guy's a c@ck, but it takes a bigger one to buy off him.

The biggest and best static BMX event of the year where he's going to get business no matter what and he puts his prices through the roof??
Come on.. Charge a decent price and people will buy instead of walking away and ripping you on here.

Totally agree .... Three years ago some of his prices were very decent ( Sugino spiders for £15 for example ) but every year since his prices have just gone up and up ?
He seems to have an endless supply of Lightning bolt seats at crazy money  ?
Whenever you see something you want it's always " that shouldn't be there " followed by a crazy price  :2gunsfiring_v1:
Several people like me wanted the odd pad of him but the reply was " buy the set and sell the rest on "  :-\

I have heard about these too. I am just waiting for them to start appearing on Ebay.com, because he will not sell copied items in the UK, as we all know where to find him.

I bought off him a few years ago and the price and service for what I bought was good, I had a look at his site recently and the prices appeared expensive.

Is this Biaggio the VW fella?

Whats his history? How has he laid his hands on all the NOS genuine stuff?

Yes, he also imports/restores/sells VW's from the US. He and a few other people either took a punt or knew how the old school scene would go, and bought up a load (and I do mean LOADS) of stuff from Alans in Wigan, probably Shiners in Bristol, plus from many other smaller shops/distributors in the UK and abroad. He (and the others) probably paid maybe £5000 (for example) and bought a load of stuff, but that £5000 would now be worth maybe £100,000 or more in stock, and that's selling it at 'reasonable' prices. Think about it: How many brake cables would fit into a medium sized box? A few hundred? He, or whoever probably paid £20 for the box, as at that time they were literally worthless. Even if you sold each one for £5 each, then that's a massive profit. The last few cables I bought (not from him actually) cost me on average £40 each, so you get the idea.  Same with number plates. 20 in a box? He was trying to sell some of them for £200 a go last weekend. Even if they sold for £100 each, that's £2000 straight away, and they're hardly heavy/bulky items to store...

I suppose to get the best deals you'd have needed to be there before the old school/ebay boom started, and would have also had to pay quite a bit of cash in one go to get good value, knowing it was a calculated risk. It's certainly paid off though. Even if everything he had left in stock became worthless overnight, i'm sure he's made his money back maybe 100 times over. As individuals/small time collectors we probably couldn't imagine the scale of how much was bought....

I walked round shiners when they had a lot of stuff , with permission to buy anything. I bought a black bin bag full of bits , like mx1000s , seatclamps , bars tyres etc and a NOS quad and ripper
I could have bought anything and didn't , I didn't even think of doing it
more fool me

they had comps 3 in piles taller than me , rippers , quads hutch's , all stacked up in the boxes
and I thought I was doing well lol

LOL
I can tell you a few that I didn't buy
at the first MK a guy turned up with a boxed NOS blue set of DX cranks , he wanted a fiver for them. no one bought them  :D

I was offered a NOS haro freestyler for 80 quid, I refused.

full bikes that would sell for 2k now for peanuts

I had 3 r gusset Raleigh pros , all sold for peanuts

I had offered to me a VDC long for 200 , a DB HL turbo for 150

I didn't buy shit loads of stuff over the last 17 years that I kick myself for
but hindsight is a wonderful thing
Title: Re: Vert-ego
Post by: pickle on September 02, 2016, 03:34 PM
Yeah we could've done that with Shiners over the years but I guess we looked at things as we didn't need or want them and by not buying it all up it left some for others to buy.

I passed up on a complete NOS ground master for £100
