Does anyone know what the score is with vert-ego. Says won't post to uk on their eBay site.
-
look on the website and order through that if you really want to pay through the nose for parts.
-
Could send a message via ebay. Is it something listed on ebay or on the site? :)
-
Was a set of hubs but got sorted out now from a fellow radster at half the price :daumenhoch:

Well done, you have just learned a valuable lesson. Shop around and you'll always find a cheaper price than Vertego
Don't get ripped kids ;-)
-
most of vert ego's stuff is sold to the uk .
some isnt ...i.e certain pad sets and pro neck stems....
there is a reason im sure .
I think i know the reason but i guess sometimes we have to come to our own conclusions ;-)
-
Has grips and bars and vw parts that post to uk but for some reason not hubs and other stuff. Sounds like he was at MK selling stuff at good prices according to some people.

As always some prices were good at MK (got some mint Haro gloves for a fiver) others not so cheap but he has got some great stuff for sure

Tbh price wise it'll be harder to find anyone more expensive than vertigo
-
Hubs were £50 NOS, I'm desperate to get my build finished and despite wanted ads all over the place couldn't find any. As I said a fellow radster has come to the rescue so all good now.

After Sat I have no repect. Job done .
-
Always go over for a nosey but know before i get there I'll be walking away empty handed. :-\
-
Wanted 65 for a seat that was 25 last year ::)
Think his brother with the Thai bride is cut from the same arse cloth too

I wonder if he got her off a website
-
He was selling pedals for £60, that JTSmooth was selling for £10 or £15, although John had sold all of his, that's probably why.
-
After this weekend he is fully aware of my thoughts on him ::)
-
Come on Steve we need to know the details now
-
I picked up a Robinson Racing Products Tshirt for £15 so can't really grumble :)

Yep i asked to as ive been after a set for a while £250!!!!! he said wtf about £100 overpriced and then when i tried to bundle in an extra stem pad he started to get all flakey. guys a waste of space

Who on :radbmxsmilie: actually bought off him over the weekend?
My issue with him is that he's been invited to attend the biggest BMX event in the UK, with undoubtedly his biggest group of customers, but he's still pricing his stuff as though he's going to incur eBay seller and PayPal fees, and he's forgetting that anyone that buys off him at MK is taking the stuff with them, but he still feels the need to add postage costs too.

I did dan, and it was an actual bargain. £20 for a NOS DC brake in blue, with pads and stays.

Sounds like a decimal place got put in the wrong spot by error then. That's why he cranked all the other prices up for that fook up

I got some lovely Haro gloves for a fiver a piece ... On other parts he wasn't so generous ::)
-
I also bought some aero gloves for a fiver. Also got some nos panaracer inner tubes for £9 each. Not exactly bargain basement, but were else will you find 30 yr old innertubes still in the box?

I did.
I practically stole what I bought though. That's two years running now that's happened.
I have no problems in offering less than he's asking. What I bought he grumbled about, I told him to keep it then and enjoy taking it home with him.
He gave in to that. :)
Admittedly I'm not keen on the guy at all and I do think he overprices stuff but it is his and he can do what he wants and ask what he wants for it. I wasn't forced to buy it.
-
I'm sorry but I think he is a Cnut
Historically arrogant in emails, thinks he's On a par with Haney - he's not
Sold me a dyed black kashimax aero about 10 years ago, when I moaned he sent me another one
Luckily I will never need to buy another thing off him, he's not in it for the love of BMX
Shrewd businessman he may be , but still don't like him
-
The fact that he sells copy Pro Neck stems on Ebay.Com as actual NOS items, is the one and only reason I would never buy from him. He will not sell them in the UK, only in the US.
The bloke is a thief, and as said by Danny, not in it for the love of BMX, just how rich he can get off people who are :loser:

JT's stand for a quid ;) :daumenhoch: They were for skinnies but 30 year old Panaracer .
He also had some 20 x 1.75 for a quid but not Panaracer .
Saw a couple of patches i fancied but he wanted £15 each for them and they werent exactly rare ones :(
-
I was wondering how much those patches were Joff. Quite fancied one of those Grab-on ones to sew onto a t-shirt. Glad I didn't ask now.
-
here we are, 12 years down the line and there's still threads about the badger. "nono"

I was after one of the small Grab On ones Tim but i wasnt prepared to pay £15 for one :crazy2:

really ??? I missed that :(
He's got some nice stuff, although well overpriced.. People somewhere keep buying it .
-
I have it on VERY good knowledge that he has piles of snide gear ,he's holding back at the mo. Check the NOS 44t bubbles he was selling , look closely where they are pressed out, all have vertical lines ( where they've been pressed) , his are smooth , as they've been laser cut! He has piles of them.
I feel sorry for the people buying from him. Never dealt with him myself and never would, enough decent people elsewhere to go to IMO
-
Guy's a c@ck, but it takes a bigger one to buy off him.
The biggest and best static BMX event of the year where he's going to get business no matter what and he puts his prices through the roof??
Come on.. Charge a decent price and people will buy instead of walking away and ripping you on here.

Totally agree .... Three years ago some of his prices were very decent ( Sugino spiders for £15 for example ) but every year since his prices have just gone up and up ?
He seems to have an endless supply of Lightning bolt seats at crazy money ?
Whenever you see something you want it's always " that shouldn't be there " followed by a crazy price :2gunsfiring_v1:
Several people like me wanted the odd pad of him but the reply was " buy the set and sell the rest on " :-\

I have heard about these too. I am just waiting for them to start appearing on Ebay.com, because he will not sell copied items in the UK, as we all know where to find him.
-
I bought off him a few years ago and the price and service for what I bought was good, I had a look at his site recently and the prices appeared expensive.
Is this Biaggio the VW fella?
Whats his history? How has he laid his hands on all the NOS genuine stuff?

Yes, he also imports/restores/sells VW's from the US. He and a few other people either took a punt or knew how the old school scene would go, and bought up a load (and I do mean LOADS) of stuff from Alans in Wigan, probably Shiners in Bristol, plus from many other smaller shops/distributors in the UK and abroad. He (and the others) probably paid maybe £5000 (for example) and bought a load of stuff, but that £5000 would now be worth maybe £100,000 or more in stock, and that's selling it at 'reasonable' prices. Think about it: How many brake cables would fit into a medium sized box? A few hundred? He, or whoever probably paid £20 for the box, as at that time they were literally worthless. Even if you sold each one for £5 each, then that's a massive profit. The last few cables I bought (not from him actually) cost me on average £40 each, so you get the idea. Same with number plates. 20 in a box? He was trying to sell some of them for £200 a go last weekend. Even if they sold for £100 each, that's £2000 straight away, and they're hardly heavy/bulky items to store...
I suppose to get the best deals you'd have needed to be there before the old school/ebay boom started, and would have also had to pay quite a bit of cash in one go to get good value, knowing it was a calculated risk. It's certainly paid off though. Even if everything he had left in stock became worthless overnight, i'm sure he's made his money back maybe 100 times over. As individuals/small time collectors we probably couldn't imagine the scale of how much was bought....
-
Asked a few how much is this on the sunday. But was talking to the other short guy there. He didnt seem to know all the prices so sometimes went and asked the Boss. But the few bits I bought where very cheap (while dealing with the short guy lol )
-
There were a few bargains, but not much slips through the net
-
Is he on here ? Or his helpers ?
-
I bought quite a few bits from him years ago. Only prices I remember are.
Tange trx £25
Elina lightning £50 a little bit more now ;D
-
he had the vision to buy it all which a lot of could have done but didn't
-

Aside from what i/we/you may think of him, i agree with you Rich. He was way ahead of most of us when it came to predicting how the scene would grow
-
I walked round shiners when they had a lot of stuff , with permission to buy anything. I bought a black bin bag full of bits , like mx1000s , seatclamps , bars tyres etc and a NOS quad and ripper
I could have bought anything and didn't , I didn't even think of doing it
more fool me
they had comps 3 in piles taller than me , rippers , quads hutch's , all stacked up in the boxes
and I thought I was doing well lol
-
The other guy was Dan merryfield.
You all had him to thank for getting the grass cut.......twice! :daumenhoch:
-

Chris, I'm just off to the old GPO to get them to you as you asked mate. Good news is they are actually NOS, just a couple of minor knocks and nicks from a million years of rolling about in the bottom of my brother's box of tat :2funny:

Bloody hell Rich ... That's a scenario that most of us Radsters can only dream of!!! :coolsmiley:
To be fair we've all done it ( maybe not on that scale though lol ) .. The things I passed on when at my first couple of MKs ... Shame ..Shame on me! :tickedoff:
-
LOL
I can tell you a few that I didn't buy
at the first MK a guy turned up with a boxed NOS blue set of DX cranks , he wanted a fiver for them. no one bought them :D
I was offered a NOS haro freestyler for 80 quid, I refused.
full bikes that would sell for 2k now for peanuts
I had 3 r gusset Raleigh pros , all sold for peanuts
I had offered to me a VDC long for 200 , a DB HL turbo for 150
I didn't buy shit loads of stuff over the last 17 years that I kick myself for
but hindsight is a wonderful thing
-
Yeah we could've done that with Shiners over the years but I guess we looked at things as we didn't need or want them and by not buying it all up it left some for others to buy.
I passed up on a complete NOS ground master for £100
-
...has anyone actually ever seen him without the helmet/breath mask?
-
.......anyway -apart from all the things said 'n before- ......when you're desperately looking for those OS Cali decals even Juan can't provide, you'll be grateful that a certain someone may STILL be able to find a sheet from the heap & help you out .....makes you glad, a moment like that just saying
