Post by: adammannering on September 09, 2016, 11:17 AM
Hi all

Just got a new seat post - and want to spray it a colour probably red.

Just using spray cans from halfords etc.

Any tips or guides out there ?

Cheers peeps

Spraying on top of chrome isn't ideal . If you have to do it i would try and rough up the surface to give the paint something to key too .  I would use an etch primer over a standard primer .  It will work but it won't be that durable , having said that a seat post shouldn't see that much abuse .

Nice one dude.  Appreciate that.  Any thoughts on rubbing the chrome down dude ?  I'm hopeless with this kinda thing.  Cheers

I'd just use some rough sandpaper 80's grade should do the trick , it's only to rough it up a bit so the primer keys a bit better  ;) Any feints catches on the Chrome will cover with Primer , ie they won't show through .
