After the success of Haro and Hoffman whose presence definitely add something special to this year's MK for me...
Who would you like to see at next year's event?
U.S. Or UK stars - perhaps a more UK focus after this year's U.S. guests?
Perhaps you don't want any guests and feel it detracts from the essence of what MK's all about ?
Let's hear your wish lists lads!
( powers that be I hope I'm not treading on anybody's toes here ? It's only meant to be a bit of fun not a petition or demand in any way )
After listening to Dale Holmes' podcast the controversial Tim March would be up there for me.
Radsters?

As much as I enjoyed the atmosphere of our esteemed guests being there I do feel the fields suffered as a result. I didn't notice many venturing down the nicely laid out isles of radsters and their rides. Even the helipad seemed quiet. I imagine the guests concentrated all the activities and attention round the marquees.
I don't have answers and I'm certainly not criticising. Just my observations.
would love to see Eddie riding a half pipe :daumenhoch:
-
Andy Ruffell for me in an official capacity. A signing and question/answer session would be cool. How about getting Alistair Pirrie along too, team him back up with Ruffell and get an old school bmx beat style contest on. I reckon Paul Barlow, Julian JJ Mortin and a few others might fancy a go....

I agree Clint. The helipad and adjoining field did seem quieter this year. The weather on Saturday didn't help either. It seemed to take people quite a while on Saturday morning to get out their displays/for sale items
-
The hotels were busier though. There were definitely plenty of people there. For me it would be great to get some British celebs there.

I like this thread, let's get the ideas down, and more importantly, let's get the ideas on how to fund it as well
-
40 years of SE next year so Stu and Perry would be the cherry on the MK cake.
-
What Ash said :daumenhoch:
-
Perry swears like a bitch Kramer for me, FOOKIN top chap
-
Going back to what Jaymz said about funding (don't shoot me, this is only a suggestion), but how about an option whereas the more committed members of the forum could pay a standing order of say £3 per month, to the RAD pot, to help boost the balance. This would be by personal choice to do this, and could be done on an anonymous level as not to make anyone feel inferior, as the existing £10 per year for the SST would still be available.
I can name at least 10 members, including myself that would be happy to do this.
Like I said, only a suggestion.
-
I'd throw in for that Dan.
Like Ant said, the Dale Holmes/Tim March podcast was a really entertaining and interesting listen. It would be good if Tim could attend. Again, a signing & question/answer session might work. Maybe get Ruffell, March, Craig Schofield, Geth Shooter and Alan Woods to do a group thing maybe?
-
Kate Beckinsale or that Laura bird from Strictly please :)

Or a Babe of the Day tent?

:daumenhoch:
That would be great - btw I watched the Stompin Stu DVD last night for the first time and would recommend it to anyone (made by the same people who did Joe Kid on a Stingray)
I know the Skyway guys (Rein/Kenneth) are talking about coming, maybe with Maurice too - I'm sure a Q&A with those guys would be interesting
-
Some great ideas lads..,
Stu and PK Ripper would be cool as would the Skyway lads or the UK bunch!
I'd be up for Dan's idea to raise funds too :daumenhoch:
-
Just think we have to do something around SE, Getting Tod over with Perry would be superb!
Also having the Skyway guys over would be amazing as well, seeing Maurice again would be great :daumenhoch:
-
True Rob Maurice is a top bloke :4_17_5:

Who's Rob Maurice?

I say we find out who this guy is and invite him, he doesn't look like someone with a collection of firearms that would be described by his neighbours as 'such a quiet guy' :LolLolLolLol:
-
....more Babe of the Day-tent material...! ;D
-
P-ing myself here!
Let's invite him ! Classic ;D too much! :LolLolLolLol:
-
....more Babe of the Day-tent material...! ;D
Could we have a dark, seedy corner in the babe of the day tent to accommodate the skanks of the day. They're all skinny, so won't take up much room. They don't eat either, so it won't cost much
-
Now we're talking! Ruffell .....PLUS that tent full with head bobbing skanks! :slayer:
-

Perry was sponsored by Skyway for years that's why he always raced with Tuffs.
-
What about some general celebrity rather than old BMX ones that people spend most of the day walking behind?
A few celebrity big brother contestants from the last show would be a big hit IMHO :4_17_5:

On the back of this, I've researched famous people linked with MK, concentrating on those living in the area still (to save on RAD funds).
I've since emailed and invited weather girl Clair Nasir along, and asked her to dress in something slutty. We can stick her in the Babe of the Day tent, job done.
:radbmxsmilie:

How about talking with someone like Neil Waddington who runs the Ride On BMX page on Facebook and having a proper organised competition there. He's got something coming up in November called "3ft High and Rising". Organised jam with the "return of quarter pipe, mini ramp and wedge ramp contests". It's sponsored by Alans and I think it'll have a good turn out of older and young riders. Obviously Neil is just one name I'm throwing out there, any other competition organisers would do though. It would provide some great entertainment as well hopefully merging new school riders with some of the old school.
-
I think the genuine Maurice is coming to MK17. He was very keen and so were Rein Stolz and Ken Coster.
It would be great to get as many old Skyway riders, both freestyle and race, to MK too. Be like a big reunion 😄
-
It's not a who but I would like to see the event extended another day. Would give us all more time to soak up the great atmosphere. The racing, show and shine, raffle etc could be spaced out a little more and we could all take it a little easier in the dog and duck knowing it's open the next evening :crazy2:

Skyways are a big 'NO' apparently on race bikes!!

Great idea. The weekend just goes far too quickly :'(
Maybe a 'soft' opening/start on the friday. No official events/guests/dog & duck - just turn up, pitch up and have a casual look around/socialise
-
MK is begging to be extended by a day .. :4_17_5: It's always rushed to fit everything in for me ... When you bring a lot of bikes packing/unpacking is a very time consuming thing ... As is socialising, drinking etc, etc :LolLolLolLol: :daumenhoch:

I don't think we're likely to see Tim March at MK next year, or any other year Ant. Here's his response to the question you asked him via facebook. This clip is taken from part 2 of the podcast Tim recorded with Dale Holmes a few days ago
https://soundcloud.com/dancetothedrummersbeat/tim-march-views-on-the-the-old-school-bmx-scene
'we need to ride our bikes more' :LolLolLolLol:
-
That said it all ( the podcast ) sadly ... ::)
Ain't gonna happen ... Money would be better spent on those old stars who really want to attend and who would really enjoy the nostalgia and the banter.
-
Lets get the Mad Dog over for it. Its safe to say S&M has been one of the few brands that has the UK scene deeply rooted in its history... And still does today.
-
love to see a bmx beat contest but must be for the over 40`s
People to see well pkradman for me as one of the originals and not seen lee for a few years
also people like rombloke , billy stupple and oli , there lots more people that were into old bmx before the expensive days but sadly i`ve got old and forgotten there names
Proper pro`s i say mike dominguez as loved his riding back in the day
-
Me...
-
Ron Wilkerson.....and Gaz Top!

I respect Tim March and his views. I have had interaction with him from time to time. My collection was never started or based on my admiration of himself . It's purely based on my love of my old bike from bitd and a bit of an obsession.
I think you need people who want to be there for what it is now .
Brian Blyther from my own selfish point of view . He rocked.
-
I respect Tim's views too. He even said it to my face at the Bournemouth 30yr anniversary when he turned up.........basically Rad is full of too many arse licking brown noses.
I
