I thought I'd ask the question to run in line with this thread, where we've all stated what gets our juices flowing with various frame sets:
http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,188628.0.html
Ok, so loathe is a strong word, but what features that have been designed really put you off any frames. For me, the one that sticks out in my mind is the Curtis Freestyler, those rear standers. I loved the frame when I first saw it in 2008, but those standers look awful IMHO.
So what about you guys?
Let's try and avoid Burner bashing here too. :daumenhoch:
-
I know they are popular/iconic and well liked but I really dislike the look of the Quadangle.
When they have an attempted 'top tube' (if you can call it that) pad on as well, it looks like somebody has tried to lay a tarpaulin over a scaffolding accident.
-
That stupid slingshot thing with wire for a frame.

I love the look of a naked quad, but agree with a pad on it looks wrong IMO

I actually like the rear standers on the Curtis Dan as they are at 45 degrees and actually look like they would work when the bike is in the air...I do loathe the flat hoop type standers though...useless for anything other than infinity rolls! Oh, and high fork pegs....horrible to use.
Fook it I will be the first to bash Burners other than the Aero Pro......I LOATHE the standard Mk2 frame! :daumenhoch:

Any frame and any fork that has 24" tuffs attached, or even leaned against.

;D agreed

Whereas I quite like them. In fact I don't really like cruisers on spokes. (That fit chick on the Skyway has a lot to answer for).
For reference...

Hutch Trickstar II nasty
Rear standers on an Aero Reflex and Hutch Trickster spoil the look of the frames for me.
MCS Mantis frames.
VDC Chimp frame horrid.
-
Defo with you there on the Trick Star II frame, horrible looking thing.
I don't actually mind the design of the rear standers on the Reflex, it looks like some thought had gone into it at least. There are some really 'rushed' looking standers out there, that GHP of McQueen's for a start (not knocking your bike personally mate).
-
Those daft L shaped dropout/standers that were on the sport & master frames.

Agreed, put me off either of those 2, so went for the FST.

Got to agree ... And I love a haro .. They don't really add anything aesthetically do they... :-\
Weirdly I do like the Trickstar 2 ... Maybe it's because I like to go against the grain .. Damien has one and I was telling him what an underrated Classic it was on the Southport ride ...
I like the graphics on the decals too... It's an insane frame but if you want different then that's the frame for you :daumenhoch:

The mongoose moosegoos. It's like something a clown would ride in the circus. Horrible bike

What's not to like?
Rare, exotic and cheap ! .. And Hutch!
Now these are fugly and mostly useless
"Standing Gear" Forks ...

No thanks ... And I love SE stuff!
-
Agreed I should have added Standing Gear Forks to my list.
-
Any 'luggage rack' style freestyle platforms. i, cw, meteorlite etc.
-
Those daft L shaped dropout/standers that were on the sport & master frames.
Yep, they are rubbish to use...and ugly...I much prefer the gen 1,2 and 3's
-
Standing gear, you take the best OS forks ever and make them look shyte ;D
-
...agree, they made them crepuscular :D
That Aeroyal ....nasty....little....spoiler..... yuck :-[
-
Freestyle frames, they are all ugly, much prefer the clean lines of a Race frame.
-
Not keen on them Diamond Back forks with the double drop outs.... don't see the point. ???
-
I agree with the double dropouts. I don't like the trickstar 2 either. Sorry TS2 lovers out there. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the VDC changa yet. I love it, but i know it's a design that splits opinion...
-
That Big Tube thingy, looks like a cheap old scafold thing :crazy2:
-
Apart from the original Haro Freestyler I'm not keen on most freestyle bikes, too many things welded on and sticking out all over the place. Agree with the Big Tube too especially the forks.
-
Anything with a big tube or square (not floval) sections, uni blade forks, the Hutch Trickstar II in general, anything where the head tube angle is either way too far back or way too far forward!
-
Trickstar 2 has been mentioned before.
Not a fan of the sling shot either. They look so wrong. In saying that Ian Mcarthur has just done one in green and that looks :4_17_5:
-

I love gjs, but never been a fan of the big tube
-
Except LGs, the early 90s ripper and the assassin, SE frames looked and were cack.
-
CW Phaze 1, and them Slingshot things both horrible gimmicky frames both may be rare but rare for a reason no one in their right mind bought them!
