Sorry gents :-*
So I spotted some grips a while back and something about them told me to delve further.
we have all seen the mushroom signature grips
(http://bmxmuseum.com/reference-images/sany5052_blowup.jpg)
But these were new to me

A bit of searching on the net turned up next to nothing so I begrudgingly asked to missus to message Todd via facebook. His response explained why I found find very little on them " Hey Clint, they were never released to the public. I own the only 7 pairs known to exist and one set were given away as a prize"
well as you can imagine I was in like flin with the seller but had to take the huge risk of sending cash in the post. Thankfully it was a relatively small amount of cash but the seller was a good one and they arrived really well packaged today :)

Don't know much about him other than he was an American racer from the mid/late 80's to very early 90's. Apparently big into motorX too.
Great find :daumenhoch:

Think I might have found socky too. Turns out Todd Slavik had him ;)

Wow, that sock sure gets about!

If he rides a free agent with a crit plate then he's alright with me. Pretty rare score on the grips, well done :daumenhoch:

I was just reading the December 1987 issue of Freestylin amd came across the original advert for these signature grips, you may have seen it, or do you want me to post a scan of it on here?
-
If you can put a pic up that would be ace :daumenhoch:

Thanks :4_17_5:
That's really interesting. Looks like they were releasing them in stages, 2 riders at a time. The confusing thing is that Todd Slavik is earlier in the series than Harry Leary yet I have seen Leary grips so it can't be just a case of them losing interest in the idea. Guess I need to ask Todd but it may be a sore point for him? :-\
-
Thats really nice :4_17_5:
-
Yeah, I guess a possible occurance is that sales of the grips weren't as good as hoped and so ODI changed their plans on what to release...that or they told Todd nothing happened so they didn't have to pay him a huge fee!!!!

Amazing result that buddy, love stuff like this
