The down tube is round at the top and oval at the bottom

I would guess that it's just an '83 Aero Pro, the Pro Race models were released '86 to mark winning the IBMXF Championships I think, Glynn will confirm.
-
My T4 Aero Pro has a downtube that is oval all the way so I do not think this is an Aero Pro.
The seat post clamp is terrible on that bike and I rather think you should sell it to me this instant ::)
-
Wasn't the twist bit in the name refering to the down tube being oval in different directions? From head tube to bottom bracket. ???
-
Ah, I get you. It is a little ambiguous. If it means that the tubing is round at the 'top' but tapers to a pointed oval IN SECTION (ie a teardrop shape), then it may well be an Aero Pro.
Sorry for my misread.
-
I think he is possibly referring to the seat post tube differing at each end , rather than the down tube ?? This is flared .
Like Dan said , although the Raleigh Pro Race is the same frame set , it looks like yours would have been a Raleigh Aero Pro with it being T3.
-
Avro, it does'nt but i'll see if it grows on me :)
sorry yeah the seat post tube 25mm at top going to oval 30mm into bottom bracket
down tube from bottom bracket is round 25mm going oval 30mm into the head tube
top tube from seat post round 25mm going oval 30mm into the head tube
chain stays from bottom bracket oval going round at drop outs
are we definitely ruling out the shuauff anaconda pro race?
is the T3 mean its 1983
cheers
-
the rear brake stay on the bike is a round tube on the schauff is flat, think that rules that out
-
Doesn't sound like a Raleigh either as my Aero Pro frame doesn't have any round tubing on the down tubes . As mentioned before , they are teardrop shaped :-\
-
Isn't it a rhino charge? I'm no race bike man but looks like this, which has the same round to tear drop tubing

Reckon you spot on there Pete :daumenhoch:

Monkian (Paul) is the man to ask about anything Tange, so it's worth dropping him a PM if he doesn't chime in soon! :daumenhoch:
-
If the top and down tubes have a slight oval at the head-tube and taper to a small round at the seat-tube & BB, then it's probably a Rhino Charge.
-
Are the seat-stays oval at the top (where they meet the seat-tube) or round?
-
The seat stays are round where it meets the seat tube.
Got in touch with the owner from New he is adamant it's a schauff anaconda pro race says he's got pics from Christmas 1984 fully decaled anaconda
But I'm not sure
He sent me this

Ok cool, yeah that's the Anaconda Pro Race.
It has an indent in the drive-side chain-stay like this:

Be great to see his pics from 84 if possible ;)
-
The Anaconda Pro Powertwist has completely different tubes so we can rule that out.
The only other thing it could be is the PK Anaconda. Not much known about it and very thin on the ground but I believe it had to be pulled from marketing and distribution due to the legal rights over the PK branding.

From looking at it I presumed it was based on a Rhino Charge frame but from what you're saying it might well have different shaped top and down-tubes. Like I said, there's not much info out there on it so this thread could be a great help. Could you confirm the tube shapes and TT length 8) :daumenhoch:

Paul that's the frame I have, been in the garage all morning studing it's definitely the one. The guy is going to his mum's house to get the photos, he going to get me a copy too, think the photos be awesome to go with the bike.
I really appreciate all your help with this and it confirms what Brian has been telling me all along
Thanks
-
Hi Paul, the top tube is 19.5 inches from middle of seat tube to middle of head tube, oval from head tube going round at bb and same with the top tube.
Thanks John :)
-
Hey John, did you manage to get any pics sorted? It'll be great to see it mate ;)
-
That's an Aero Pro frame
