Put them on a rim and do skids, no need to worry about storage then Glynn

I read that applying Vaseline to the walls helps.

The roof or the garage is what I've done up to now but I've had a couple dry out. The ones in boxes or packing paper have been fine. I realised it's the extremes over the year causing moisture then dry out can make them brittle.
I've gone for a squirt with simonize tyre protector  and just ordered some silica gel packs to put in the bin liners. See how that fairs .

I used to use vaseline, and mine are still supple and haven't deteriorated in 3 years. I've now switched to autoglym tyre dressing which goes on like a dream with little waste/residue. All seems good so far. I store my unfitted tyres in the house - in a wardrobe away from heat sources to keep the temp fairly constant

That's the best option really Andy a constant temperature.

I did some research into this for a house and garage I had to design the services to for a car collector. 40+ very expensive classic cars in a below ground garage in London. Constant temp and humidity is the way to go. Avoid moisture at all costs. I with DTTDB re Autogym Vinyl and Rubber care. Darkens skinwalls alittle but great on the rubber.

I would ask Alan Woods what he does with his in his stock room, all mine have come from there, and they're all still in great shape.  :D

I wouldn't recommend anything oil based (or vaseline), for the same reason you shouldn't use it as a sex lube with a latex condom

I also wouldn't put oil on my tyres because they're supposed to be grippy :teef:

Greased up and ready for action. The tyres have had a bit of attention too.

I have used Timberland Waximum on the sidewalls of a set of Comp St's I have, seems to have worked pretty well so far.

What about them bags you suck the air out with a hoover?,  they do say on the advert they are moisture/water tight?
