Title: Rear brake guard, noob question
Post by: Avro on November 21, 2016, 08:59 PM
Are rear brake guards, the plastic cowls clip to the frame shielding the rear caliper, a race or freestyle additions :-[?
I need to know before I make a faux pas so to speak. Best be embarrassed now than later *giggles*

I think they were originally designed for race bikes but later on many freestylers ( RL Osborn and Andy Preston to name 2 who definitely used them ) had them .. I think some ( Eddie Fiola ) even used them on their front forks at some point  :daumenhoch:
Build bikes your way dude ... I loved all these BMX "extras" bitd and still love them now  :smitten:

Brake guards were to stop shoes, shoe laces, pants etc getting caught on the brake.

Happened to me a few years back, my shoe got hooked up on the quick release coming out of a berm, managed to stay on, just, was going fookin fast n all.

Super, I was lucky to find one that matches my current build nicely. It is a nice extra as you say. It is a fab match for one option of pad set I am considering as well. Thanks
