I recently bought a set of Araya Aero wheels: Aero rims laced to matching LF Suzue hubs dated 1984.
On receiving them I was surprised to see them laced 4x, a pattern I do not like as I think it is just wrong with one spoke hitting hard against the head of another.
The rims and hubs are both anodised black.
My question is does anyone know what bike these were originally fitted to, if indeed they were og to a model?
Unfortunately I have a very annoying fault on Ebay at the moment where I can not message a seller as the link times out.
Hoping someone knows or can add any information.

I build all of my wheels 4x, makes them stronger.
Aero's were on street and lower end (no disrespect Burner, DB, MT etc owners) makes.
Bloody horrible wheels in my opinion but others swear by them.

Don't think that combo was stock on any bike, Aero pros had silver with black suntours as stock.
-
Probably just built by someone... maybe 3X spokes weren't available at the time or like Mr Swannick maybe they preferred 4X. ???

I'd be one of the one's who swears by them, Araya Aeros were way ahead of their time and probably the strongest of the race wheels.
I disagree that they were mostly found on lower end bikes any more than the other rims, yes they came on Burners (Don't recall them being on DB used Arayas or Sumo or MT used Sumo.
No1 Burners were packed with other decent parts too sugino, tange, dia compe, kashimax etc etc they just had crap frames (tange excepted).
No2 Araya (the other ones like 7xs) Ukai, Ambrosio, Skyways were all to be found on lower end bikes too.
Araya Aeros on Suntour or Suzue sealed hubs are a brilliant wheel and don't need to be 4x as they are strong enough.

fan of araya aeros here too, had a pair with suzue sealed hubs on my rickman freestyler and they survived all sorts of abuse with no issues.

Probably the strongest old school bmx wheel you could get :daumenhoch: coupled with some decent hubs such as suntour, suzue etc and you got a great wheelset :coolsmiley: sort your spoke's out and should be good :daumenhoch:

I think on the right bike they look great, for me they look best on a race build though

Sure the mk2 cromo burner (koizumi made) came with aeros on lf suzue hubs

Thanks for the input and the 'rick-roll' was deftly done sir
They are a great set of wheels but I would have do differ about 4x being stronger but the forum threads on this subject are legion and I have no desire to open another one here!
See you in the New Year with new builds and, perhaps, another crack at BoTM.
