Is the search function not working or is it just me? It just keeps coming up with an error. 😟
-
Works fine for me. Are you looking for something with 3 letters or less?
-
It just worked for me
I searched for 'monkey balls' & found one of Ratty's terrible jokes
-
Hmmm, seems to be working now, strange. Cheers Guys 👍

Think I just spotted why you might be having trouble.. The box towards the top of the screen is the shoutbox
To search look a bit higher, between help and profile ;)

your not able to define the search facility enough (unless I'm doing it wrong?) It drags up far to much general stuff that may have a word in your sesarch if you get me? from yonks ago when searching, would like to be able to define what I'm looking far to avoid this :yahoo_silent:

What are you trying to search for? Maybe we can help :)
-
for instance if you type in 'Diacompe Tech III lever' and specify in the for sales dept it will then bring up anything and everything posted that has one or all of them words in it! but I'm only looking for a lever if you get me Griff ter ;)
-
See what you mean, but then if you made it so strict that it ignored anything that wasn't EXACTLY written as you said in one continuous text string it still might not work properly. Even without allowing for people's spelling mistakes it could mean you miss out in this case if they wrote DC instead of Dia Compe or 3 instead of III
If you select 'match all words' then it will bring up posts that have all the words you select in, but I agree it could throw up a post where someone's selling DIa Compe calipers and Shimano levers at the same time.
Many people don't even realise you can just search in one section so at least you're doing it right ;)

:LolLolLolLol: :daumenhoch:

If you place a quotation mark at either end of your subject it will search for only the exact phrase you want.
One of these - "
I've just tried "Diacompe Tech III lever" it in the sales section and nothing matches, then done the same in all sections and your post asking this question is the only result. Then tried again with "DC Tech III lever" and this is the only sales listing them....

You may have to keep re-searching for all variations you can think of for maximum benefit.
Hope that helps.
top tip :daumenhoch:
but shows the danger of searching for an exact phrase - there are many ways of wording the same thing!
-
Thx for the tip
I asked the seller if it's for sale unfortunately it had sold but it was 4 years ago! Lol another good reason why we need to delete old posts me thinks ;)

now you're just stirring the pot ;D
there is a 'sold' section where things can go but tbh I really can't be arsed with that level of admin
if sellers want to clear up after themselves that's up to them ;)
